Vol. 2, Issue 5

Here comes the sun! The long-awaited summer break is here! We hope you take this time to rest, relax, and recharge after such a busy school year. We have a busy summer ahead and look forward to seeing you at our virtual school nurse workshops and at MEGA in July, so mark your calendars! In the meantime, enjoy your time away from school. On behalf of Children's of Alabama, thank you for all that you do!

The Monthly Spotlight

National Allergy and Asthma Awareness Month

Although allergies do not cause asthma, they can trigger asthma symptoms.1 Children with well-controlled asthma symptoms can lead normal lives; however, if your child’s asthma is uncontrolled, allergies can make their symptoms worse. Uncontrolled asthma can have a significant cost to families due to being at increased risk of an emergency department visit, hospitalization, and school absenteeism.2
