Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a hereditary condition where individuals possess a flawed protein which disrupts the functionality of the body's cells, tissues, and the glands responsible for mucus and sweat production. Typically, mucus acts as a lubricant, safeguarding the airways, digestive tract, and various organs and tissues. However, CF thickens and densifies the mucus, leading to potential blockages, damage, and increased susceptibility to infections in affected organs1. People with CF get lung infections often, which can cause them to have trouble breathing. Cystic fibrosis affects approximately 30,000 people in the United States, and 70,000 people worldwide. In the US, about 1,000 new cases of CF are diagnosed each year, and by age 2, more than 75% of people with CF are diagnosed2. CF is treated by loosening and clearing the mucus, preventing lung infections, taking enzymes, and eating a high calorie diet with vitamins3.

Better Sleep Month
Sleep serves as a foundational element of health. It is during sleep that your body and brain undergo a reset, triggering recovery processes that are not possible during wakefulness. When you're receiving adequate sleep, it seldom crosses your mind. Chances are, you'll awaken feeling refreshed and fully capable of handling your daily activities. To improve your sleep quality, establish a consistent routine by going to bed and waking up at the same time each day. Avoid consuming caffeine or engaging in exercise late in the day, as these can disrupt your sleep and affect its quality. Enhancing your sleep can help mitigate health issues including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes1.
