Dear Neighbors,
As August begins, Harris County is well into budget planning for the next fiscal year while families prepare for a new school year. Both are reminders that planning and prioritizing tasks matter.
As your Commissioner, my budget priorities remain focused on what I've consistently heard from residents: keep our neighborhoods safe, maintain our roads, bridges, and drainage infrastructure, and be responsible with your hard-earned tax dollars. Every budget decision should focus on delivering the core services county government is expected to provide while being a careful steward of taxpayer dollars. Thank you to everyone who attended last month's budget town hall to share your feedback- your voice truly matters.
Preparing for the school year has also been a priority for Precinct 3 crews. Throughout the summer, they inspected school crossings, tested flashing school zone lights, cleared tree limbs along bus routes, and completed roadway maintenance to help ensure students can travel safely to and from campus. As school resumes, I encourage everyone to slow down, put away distractions, and use extra caution in school zones.
On behalf of all of us at Precinct 3, I wish every student, teacher, and family a safe, successful, and exciting school year. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you.
Commissioner Tom Ramsey
