LETTER FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Dear Neighbors,

September is an important month for Harris County. As families settle into a new school year, your Commissioners Court is also making decisions that will impact your family’s budget for the year ahead.

In the coming days, I’ll continue to push one simple principle - Harris County government should spend within its means and make the most of the tax dollars you already send us. That means prioritizing our statutory responsibilities: safer neighborhoods, reliable roads and infrastructure, flood protection, and essential county services BEFORE asking taxpayers for more.

I’ve heard from many of you about the rising cost of living and your concerns about a potential tax increase. I believe we could pass a flat tax rate this year, if we focus funding statutory responsibilities and stop expanding government services and bureaucracy.

As always, thank you for allowing me to serve you. I’ll continue advocating for a fiscally responsible budget that protects taxpayers while maintaining the services our communities depend on.

The next Commissioners Court meeting takes place on Tuesday, September 8th. For more information or to tune in, click here.

T.C. JESTER FLOOD MITIGATION PROJECT BREAKS GROUND

Construction is officially underway 🏗️👷‍♂️ on the T.C. Jester Stormwater Detention Basin project! This critical flood mitigation project is part of the Cypress Creek Implementation Program and the first of four stormwater basins to hold and prevent a significant amount of water from entering nearby homes. The four-part project is a part of the voter-approved 2018 Harris County Flood Control District Bond.

Thank you to our funding partners and community members who helped make this project possible.
