"SMART" WATCHES AND SIMILAR DEVICES.
More and more students are wearing a watch-type of electronic device to school, and these have become a distraction in the classroom. If your child chooses to wear this to school, they may use them before or after school time (prior to 8:00 and after 3:15).
During school hours, these must be out of sight in back packs. If used during the day, the teacher will keep them until the end of the day.
If you need to get information to your child during the day, feel free to contact the school office. Many parents and teachers have texting communication already in place, as well.

Learning God's Word by heart is one of the blessings we have at Martin Luther School. Hiding God's Word in your heart provides a wonderful "Scriptural storehouse" on which our student can strengthen their faith and knowledge of the Lord. Each Tuesday and Thursday mornings, two of our students have the opportunity to and share their memory work with Mrs. Wolfgram.
Here's a shout out to
Hannah Nye, Jackson Leithold, and Aubrey Meier
for successfully sharing their memory work!

Mayfest news:
-
Congrats to Mayfest ticket winner, Faith Sandy! Thanks for making a donation to the Mayfest auction items!
- Tickets sales end on MAY 1st, so plan ahead!
| |
Not into soliciting, but would still like to help?
We have some donations that actually just need to be picked up. (We have some home-bound people who have made calls about donations, secured a donation, but are unable to actually go and get them.) If anyone is available to visit a few businesses to pick up donations or to drop off information on Martin Luther School/Mayfest, please let the office know. This is a great way to help out with the planning of the event!

SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES AT MLS
Do you have kids that enjoy chess or would like to learn how to play? Sign them up for one or more of this summer’s chess camps run by “That Chess Guy” Todd Wolf. Camps will run 4 consecutive days for 3 hours per day. Students will solve chess puzzles, learn chess basics, tactics, strategies, opening principles, checkmate patterns and techniques, etc. Participants will also be introduced to chess resources that are available to help them continue to play and learn when the camps are through. Possibly best of all, students may make life-long friends and become part of the local chess community. Students are welcome to sign up for multiple camps and sessions if they wish.

“5,6,7,8….” Martin Luther School will offer a music camp Monday, June 23-26, 9:00-12:00 to prepare students who may not yet be familiar with reading music and understanding musical notation. This would be for students entering grades 4 in the fall and older. This camp would greatly assist students beginning band instruction in the fall. We will engage in various rhythm and counting activities, implementing a variety of musical instruments. The cost is $50 per student!"

BAND PROGRAM RETURNS!
We are excited to announce that Luther Academy of Music will once again offer instrumental band instruction beginning next fall! Katie Woodside will be offering lessons for students beginning in the 5th grade!
Katie is an accomplished musician, working on her music degree from the University of Mary. She is a member of the 188th Army Band-ND Army National Guard and served as piano instructor for Luther Academy of Music this past school year. We look forward to establishing the band program at Martin Luther School!
Not sure what they should play?
To help determine what band instrument would work best for our students, Eckroth Music will come to Martin Luther School Tuesday, April 22nd and allow our students to play various instruments to see what would be a good fit for your child.
Getting them ready!

"Gosh, I wish we could get out the word about Martin Luther School..."
"How can we get our name out in the community?..."
"I mentioned Martin Luther School to a friend. They had never heard of it!?"
"We really have been blessed with Martin Luther. What can we do to help it grow?
In our 30 years of existence, these comments continue to ring true. After the middle school meeting last week, it was heartening and encouraging to receive validation on where we are, as well as advice for what we need to do to grow. This is an EASY first step for marketing.
It's easy, convenient, free, yet, oh, so helpful.
Many parents currently in our community and those planning to relocate here are searching for options for their children for their education. What is one place to which people often turn when searching such things? Why, GOOGLE, of course! They "Google" it.
We are missing out on a great marketing opportunity that is painless, effective, and free! Simply "Google" Martin Luther School, go to reviews and share a review. (this seems to work better on a laptop than on a phone.) The more reviews we have also improves our visibility through Google.
Greatschools.org is also another site where you are able to leave a review.
Please take the opportunity to leave a review, if you like, and share the blessing of Martin Luther School!
