A Message From Our Founder…
Happy Chilly November FMAA Family!
Those of you that know me at all know that I’m a peace and love “hippie” type of heart. Yes, I admit it. Pretty much everything I do and dream about has to do with promoting peace, love, and kindness through music and art to the world around me. My sister and I have loved peace signs since we were little girls. We both have them all over our homes and clothes. I have them in my yard, and even on my car. My sis has a huge one on her front door. We refer to ourselves as the peace sisters.
All that being said, I think we all understand that there are terrible things happening on this planet. Things I don’t think anyone has an actual understanding of. I know that personally the state of the world can overwhelm me and quite honestly, depress me, I also know that for me finding balance between the things I can and cannot control is essential to my well being. I can control my actions and behaviors. I can choose love, peace, and kindness. I can choose to smile at someone or ask the young lady at the register how her day is going. I can hold the door open for someone, I can choose to not be afraid of the homeless guy outside our shop and instead, ask his name, There are a zillion little ways to counteract the sadness that can seep into our souls. Recognizing that life is full of “moments” and really trying to appreciate the good moments and being proactive in creating “good moments” is really all anyone can of. It starts with me. It starts with us.
November 13 is World Kindness Day. World Kindness Day 2023 is a global observance dedicated to promoting and celebrating acts of kindness. This day serves as a reminder of the positive impact that kindness can have on a individuals, communities, and the world at large. We here at FMAA have traditionally observed “Kindness Month”. Please look around the schools. You will see reminders everywhere that kindness starts with YOU and ME. (-: Also, we have the THANKFULNESS stations set up at both locations.
