The Question of Certainty
One of the things I can’t get rid of, and that drives my husband nuts, is the children’s books I collected while I was teaching elementary school. There is so much wisdom in those little books. For instance, in the book
Harold and the Purple Crayon we find a solution for the uncertainty that lurks in our future. Whenever Harold has an issue he simply creates a solution. If Harold is hungry he draws some pies with his purple crayon! If he finds himself in deep waters, he draws a boat! Harold is a great example of creativity and flexibility.
Many of you at CPC are uncertain about what the future may hold for the church as you journey through transition and the search for an installed pastor. I cannot guarantee you that the road ahead will be straight and easy. There will be times the road has potholes, or there may be some sharp curves, perhaps a sinkhole will block the path. But what I am certain of is that God will be journeying with us. My hope is that we can be more like Harold, flexible and creative in our problem solving.
