Vigil.jpg

THURSDAY, APRIL 14 (8:00 PM) to

FRIDAY, APRIL 15 (11:00 AM)

IN-PERSON ONLY

There are still four (4) vigil hours that need to be filled. It is crucial that we fill these spots.

Holding a vigil after the Maundy Thursday service follows the ancient practice of maintaining until the morning of Good Friday. This was in response to the call of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane on the night before his crucifixion when he said to his disciples, “Could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray with me.” You are invited to participate in the vigil by sitting in person in the chapel with the presence of Christ in the reserve sacrament during the overnight hours. You are free to pray, sit, or read during your hour.

Please email Rev. Ryan to sign-up.

FRIDAY, APRIL 15 | 11:00 AM | HYBRID

The Stations of the Cross (or The Way of the Cross) is a prayerful devotion that recalls the series of events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. In the early centuries of the Christian faith, pilgrims to Jerusalem often visited the places connected to the final hours of Jesus’ earthly life. Over time, Christians unable to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem developed the practice of recalling those events using images and “stations” to imitate the Jerusalem pilgrimage and to meditate on the final hours and events of Jesus’ life.
