KNOW YOUR TECH SUPPORT
Now that our classes are underway, you'll want to have the contact information for the people serving as tech support for your classes. Each one of our classes has a tech support staff member assigned. This is the person who sends out the invites every week, who opens and closes the class, and who assists the course leader and the class members with all Zoom-related issues. So, in case you have not received an invite to your class or you have difficulty getting into the class—or any other Zoom problem—you should have that contact information handy. Their contact information appears on the invites that you get each week; but If you don’t know who your tech support is, just send an email to Shelly Levine and she'll gladly provide you with the information.

AND EVERY MORNING THE WAY HOME GETS LONGER AND LONGER
BY FREDRIK BACKMAN
FRIDAY, MARCH 12 @ 10:30-12:00
|
|
Sign up here before registration closes at noon on Thursday, March 11, to request a Zoom invitation. You'll receive an invitation by 3 p.m. that day. The meeting will open 15 minutes early so we can socialize before we begin the discussion. Contact Joan Chasan if you have trouble signing up.
An exquisitely moving portrait of an elderly man's struggle to hold on to his most precious memories, and his family's efforts to care for him even as they must find a way to let go. With all the same charm of his bestselling full-length novels, here Fredrik Backman once again reveals his unrivaled understanding of human nature and deep compassion for people in difficult circumstances. This is a tiny gem with a message you'll treasure for a lifetime.

COME TO OUR LLAIC ZOOM HAPPY HOUR!
THURSDAY, MARCH 18
4:00-5:00
Our February Happy Hour started with the usual talk of vaccines; but then it went on to athletes and performers controlled by stage parents, self-driving cars, the Mars landing, the likelihood that our grandchildren won't know what typewriters and slide rules and carbon paper and phone books were, and what a third-party candidate might do to a national election.
We hope you'll join us again on Thursday, March 18, from 4 to 5 p.m. We should have lots of new things to talk about as well as the old ones. Bring your drinks, snacks, and conversation.
Click here to request a Zoom invitation by noon on Wednesday, March 17. You'll receive your invite by 3 p.m. that day.

MOVIE MAVENS
DEAR FRANKIE
FRIDAY, MARCH 19 @ 2:00-3:00
|
|
For our March film the Movie Mavens have chosen a little gem of a drama, Dear Frankie, a 2004 British film about a young single mother whose love for her son prompts her to perpetuate a deception designed to protect him from the truth about his father.
One critic calls it “a small movie with a big soul.” Another writes: “Thanks to some wonderfully open-ended writing and acting, and Auerbach's fine attention to detail, Dear Frankie is one of those rare films that rewards repeat viewing.”
The film was critically acclaimed and won numerous awards, including two BAFTA Scotland Awards. It is available on Hoopla for free, plus Amazon Prime, iTunes, and AppleTV.
We will gather on Zoom for our discussion on March 19 at 2:00 p.m. Click here for an invitation by noon on Thursday, March 18, and you will receive the invite by 3:00 that afternoon.
