CALL FOR COURSE PROPOSALS FOR FALL 2021
We are planning our LLAIC curriculum for the Fall 2021 Semester! We invite you to submit a course proposal so that we can offer as diverse and exciting an array of courses as possible.
We have decided to continue with the Zoom format through the Fall Semester since we cannot be certain of how far along the return to normalcy will be by then. LLAIC provides a dedicated technical support individual for every class to handle Zoom invitations, assistance with screen sharing, and all-around troubleshooting. Our Course Leaders can focus on the course content, not the technology. We also offer as much course development support as each Course Leader desires.
Click here to download the Course Proposal Form for Fall 2021. Classes begin the week of September 21 and course length can be 10 weeks, five weeks, or something in between. The five-week classes can begin in the first five weeks of the semester or the last five weeks.
We would like to receive proposals by April 23, 2021 to allow ample time for us to review the proposals and create course listings for publication. One of the perks of volunteering as a Course Leader is the opportunity to pre-enroll in as many courses as you wish at no charge, a benefit that can be deferred for a semester upon request. If you know of someone who might want to be a Course Leader now or in the future, please send their name to Lois Novotny at [email protected] and we will follow up.
Proposals should also be submitted to Lois at [email protected] as indicated on the proposal form.
We greatly appreciate the commitment of our Course Leaders. Based on the feedback we receive, we know that our members have a very favorable opinion of the quality of the Course Leaders and the course content.

THE LLAIC BOARD IS SEEKING NOMINATIONS
LLAIC was founded seven years ago as an independent lifelong learning group providing stimulating and affordable courses and an outlet for social interaction. We are as good as the hard work and expertise that our volunteers put into it…and over the years we have had excellent and very collaborative leadership. We are now seeking new members to add to our Board of Directors.
We invite you to identify potential candidates, yourself included, whom you deem appropriate for Board participation and involvement. We seek candidates who may have an interest in being active in LLAIC governance and management.
The election will take place at our Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 26. Please click here for more detailed information about the process and qualifications.
Please contact Carole Levy, chair of the nominating committee, at [email protected] with your suggestions.

WE CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH ZOOM TIPS
Tip 1: Do you know this quick way to unmute?
When you are muted and want a quick way back, on most computers you can click on the space bar to quickly unmute.
Tip 2: The elusive invitation, part 1:
Where the #%$@# is the invite? Set up a special email folder named "Zoom Invites” in which to store your current invitations. Move each new invite to this folder so you'll know where to find it when the meeting is about to start. Every invitation gives you the name of your supporting Zoom technician. Put this somewhere you can readily find it.
Tip 3: The elusive invitation, part 2:
Invitations to Zoom events are sent out by 3:00 p.m. the day before the event. Don’t wait! If you don't see your invite by then, call your supporting Zoom technician. But first check your spam folder. That’s often where missing invitations hide.
Tip 4: Say what?
Zoom offers closed captioning. If you want it, let your course leader and/or Zoom technician know and it will be enabled for you.
Tip 5: Is your best buddy at the opposite end of your gallery view?
On most computers you can click, hold and drag any image on your Zoom screen to a new position. Try it; it’s easy.
These tips will be stored on Zoom Central at www.llaic.org. Want more tips or have questions about the above? Contact your favorite Zoom technician or Joe Bongiardina, 978 501 4026.

LLAIC LOVES ART
CRYSTAL BRIDGES MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21 @ 1:45-3:00
|
|
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is nestled into the Ozark Forest on a 120-acre tract of land in the heart of Bentonville, Arkansas. The three pillars of Crystal Bridges are Art, Architecture, and Nature. Guests experience a seamless integration of these elements as they move about the campus.
The museum was designed by Moshe Safdie, the internationally acclaimed architect who has created many outstanding structures around the world, including the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Your tour will take you on a brief trip around the campus and introduce you to works from Crystal Bridges' Permanent Collection of American Art, including sculptures from its art trails as well as highlights from the 3300+ art works that span five centuries of American masterworks ranging from the colonial era to the present day - such as Norman Rockwell's Rosie the Riveter.
Presenter Jann Pittman is a retired non-profit executive who has volunteered at Crystal Bridges for over six years. She has led tours of the art, architecture, and sculpture for more than five years. Jann is fond of saying that everything she knows about art and architecture, she learned at Crystal Bridges.
To request an invitation for the program, click here before noon on Monday, April 19. You'll receive your invitation or notification of your status by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20.
