TUESDAY, JUNE 29 THRU THURSDAY, AUGUST 19
10:00-11:15 A.M.
Do you enjoy reading the New Yorker magazine short stories and discussing them with interesting people? Are you concerned about events occurring in our country and the world and do you want to hear what others think? Would you like to see paintings created during the pandemic, hear about five wise men in history, learn about Botticelli and view his beautiful art work, find out how middle schoolers are taught social studies these days, explore the possibility of self-driven cars, listen to an animal rights activist, watch/discuss a couple of Ted Talks, and meet a well-known Boston Globe writer? If so, join the SummerSession and enjoy eight weeks of Zoom classes from 10:00 to 11:15 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is a free bonus for all LLAIC members, an opportunity to continue the pleasure of learning and sharing ideas. Our facilitators welcome your participation and are eager to impart their knowledge and unusual experiences.
Here is the schedule for the SummerSession programs. When they begin you'll be able to sign up for each one individually. You'll receive early notices of the New Yorker Roundtable stories to give you time to read them (see next article) and you can sign up for the Roundtable and other SummerSession programs the Sunday before the session. These used to be drop-in events, and this is as close as we can come!

MOVIE MAVENS
WILD TALES
FRIDAY, JULY 16 @ 2:00-3:00
|
|
The Movie Mavens film choice for Friday July 16th, is Wild Tales, a multiple award-winning Argentinian movie from 2014 that is both tragic and funny. The movie is a collection of six short segments, each with different settings and actors, united by common themes of uncontrolled anger, rage, and frustration.
From the critics: "six uncomfortably hilarious fables of revenge"..."an explosively funny film, made with great energy”…"a splendidly anarchic portrait of a world on the verge of a nervous breakdown"…"Damián Szifron tells each story with a specific visual flair that helps make ‘Wild Tales’ the best anthology movie I've ever seen."
Wild Tales is available for rental on Amazon Prime. We will meet on Zoom to discuss the film at 2:00pm on Friday, July 16th. Click here by noon on Thursday, July 15th, for an invitation. You will receive it by 3:00 p.m that afternoon.
