PLEASE JOIN LLAIC LOVES ART
AND THE PHOENIX ART MUSEUM ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, at 1:30 FOR
JAMIE WYETH'S WORLD: THREE GENERATIONS OF AMERICAN ARTISTS
Explore three generations of a family of American artists that have made a lasting impression in the realm of American art, focusing on the works of N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. Explore the similarities and the differences between the three concerning style and the use of the elements of art in their works. In addition, we will survey the common bonds shared between the three generations in the lives they lived and learn how this was reflected in the art they created through the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
Our presentation will be orchestrated by Phoenix Museum of Art docent Janine Loiselle-Newbern, who not only gives in-house tours but talks to her local community exploring the different realms of art, artists and history. She also serves as a docent webmaster for the Museum. Janine received her B.A. in museum studies and art history from the University of Michigan. Before moving to Phoenix, AZ, she was a docent at The Detroit Institute of Arts.

He soon meets Julia, a spirited and ambitious young woman who is inseparable from her three younger sisters. Happily, the family welcomes Julia’s new boyfriend into their loving, chaotic household.
But then darkness from William’s past surfaces. The result is a catastrophic family rift that changes their lives for generations. Will the loyalty that once rooted them be strong enough to draw them back together?

MOVIE MAVENS
FAREWELL MR. HAFFMANN
FRIDAY, MARCH 21 @ 2:00-3:00
| |
|
Farewell Mister Haffmann takes place against the backdrop of the Holocaust, but is really a psychological study that could happen in any era. Joseph Haffmann (Daniel Auteuil) is a master jeweler living in Paris in 1941. Since all Jews must leave, he offers his employee, Francois Mercier (Gilles Lellouche), the chance to take over his store. What will follow are many moral ambiguities.
Per Rotten Tomatoes: “[This] psychological thriller dramatizes a morally complex and compelling Faustian narrative that touches on the power dynamics underlying class and gender inequality, antisemitism and, most central, the brutality of the Nazi regime.”
This film is available on Amazon, YouTube, and Apple TV. Please refer to the Just Watch app for more options.
Click here before noon on Thursday, March 20, to request a Zoom invitation. It will be sent out that day.
