Shred the Peak to Save
Peak electricity is expensive, affecting future power supply costs and in turn, customer bills. Shred the Peak is an effort to collectively reduce RMLD’s electricity use during peaks to control these costs and keep rates affordable. Previously, Shred the Peak focused on the annual peak. This year, RMLD added monthly peaks into the program, so Shred the Peak Alerts will be sent all year round. Even though this year's annual summer peak has passed, you can still help Shred the Peak!
As part of its Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program, RMLD offers residential customers a rebate of $500 on the purchase of an Air-Source Heat Pump (see program guidelines for details).
Heat pumps have the ability to warm and cool a home by using electricity to move heat, rather than conventional heating or cooling appliances which generate heat (or cold).
Heat pumps reduce emissions and carbon pollution associated with heating fuels, and because they are so energy efficient, can result in an estimated 30%-50% overall reduction in home heating and cooling costs!
Heat pumps are best suited for all-electric homes or homes with central propane or oil heat.
