| Peace, Reconciliation and Harmony with Right Speech |

Sister Thuan Nghiem (Sister Harmony) of Plum Village Monastery in France takes us along her lifelong journey of transforming her way of thinking and speaking with the practice. She shares many personal stories about the importance of checking our perceptions and speaking more humbly and lovingly.
Speaking, as well as listening, is an art. Thanks to our daily practice and the support of our community, we can learn to speak in a completely different way. Our words don’t need to come from a place of hurt and blindly follow our habit energies anymore. They can become an expression of our mindfulness and love, inspiring and touching the hearts of many people.

Join the nuns and monks for a moment of togetherness, joy and resistance. Let’s come together and support one another to resist the temptation to get more things, to re-establish our sense of sovereignty and belonging, and to remind ourselves that we are enough and that we do have more than enough conditions to be happy right here in this very moment.
The event, free and open to everyone, will be broadcast from Deer Park Monastery in California via Zoom on Friday, November 25, from 9-11 a.m. PST. Real-time translations will be offered in Spanish, French, and Vietnamese.

| Love and Relationships: Inclusivity |

If English is our first language, there are some words that we’ve known since we were very young. We don’t bother to look them up in the dictionary because we believe they are simple words, and there is nothing special about them. But today I want to invite you to change your way of thinking and to look up familiar words in the dictionary, and to ask yourself, “Was my understanding correct?” “Am I caught in what I know?” Not wanting to be so confident in my understanding of the word “relationship,” I went online searching for its meaning.

Deer Park Monastery in California has an aspiration to offer more of the Dharma in Spanish, recognizing the enormous population of native speakers in the Americas. This summer, the monastery held its first-ever Spanish-language retreat. More recently, Brother Phap Luu and Brother Duc Tri shared a Dharma talk in Spanish on the Day of the Dead, a holiday celebrated in Mexico and other parts of North America.

The Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation and Plum Village France monastics are looking for an experienced web developer to support turning the book Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet into an online course. While the monastics will create the curriculum content, and we have a lead developer setting up the learning management system, we would benefit from additional developer support for a project of this scale.
