Rally Roundup Newsletter - January 2025

Happy New Year, Squash Enthusiasts!

In this newsletter, we are going to start with the upcoming national championships (because it is that season), call for nominations for the women’s Sportsmanship and Achievement Bowl awards, and highlight The Butternet, a new women’s team event in Portland, OR.

2025 U.S. Women’s Masters & Women’s Skill Level Squash Championships and the City Cup!

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Apr 4 - 6, 2025

The Women’s Singles Championships will again be held as a women’s only event, with both the Masters and the Skill Level draws being run in the same event.

You get to play in both events for the price of one!

And, we encourage you to play in both an age level division and a skill level division! If you play in both events, you will have at least 4 matches throughout the weekend. Matches will start at noon on Friday and everyone should expect to play on Friday as your matches will be spread out throughout the weekend so you have enough recovery time in between your matches.

The City Cup will be awarded to the city or region with the most number of points, awarded for both participation and wins. We will determine the cities/regions once the entries close so we can create similar sized regions. You will find out your region at the event and see the City Cup Leaderboard on the big screens!

So, gather all your women squash buddies, enter the event together, represent your city or region and enjoy the camaraderie, competition and social aspect of this tournament. Check out the pictures from last year.

Call for Nominations for the Achievement Bowl and Sportsmanship Award

Each year, we ask the women’s squash community to nominate a woman deserving of either the Achievement Bowl or the Sportsmanship Trophy.

The Achievement Bowl, the oldest award in US Squash, is awarded to women who have made notable and profound contributions to the advancement of the women’s game.

The Feron’s Wedgwood Sportsmanship Trophy is awarded by the US Squash Women’s Committee to players who have shown exemplary sportsmanship on and off the court.

Past recipients can be found on the Women’s Awards page on the US Squash website. Last year’s recipients were Susan Greene (Achievement Bowl) and Carole Grunberg (Sportsmanship Award).

The award selection process starts with your nominations, which are presented to the US Squash Women's Committee for recommendations to the US Squash Board of Directors.

We will accept nominations through the end of February and then award recipients will be honored at the US National Women’s Masters and Skill Levels Tournament in Philadelphia during the weekend of April 12-14.
