The ReMarks

November 26, 2025

It's that time of year again. No, not Christmas (yet).

Turkey time! Whether you're traveling for a feast, or staying local, remember that gluttony is a deadly sin - so politely tell your cousin that you shan't be having a second helping of pumpkin pie!

This Advent, we ask: Is our hope in the empires of this world or in the liberating presence of God?

Romans 8: 18-25 & Luke 2:1-3

Advent Begins

‘On the Way to Bethlehem’ begins today. Here is the ‘2025 Advent Season Calendar’ with all of the goings on at Saint Mark during this time.

South Atlanta Christmas Store Toy Drive

Saint Mark is once again participating in the South Atlanta Christmas Store Toy Drive, formerly Pride for Parents.

South Atlanta Christmas Store is a nonprofit organization that collects toys that enables parents to buy their children's gifts at significantly reduced prices. This work provides parents dignity in choosing and purchasing presents for their children. And of course, their children get something they want - it's a win-win for everyone.

We will be receiving toy donations from November 20th through December 8th.

As you purchase toys, please drop them off in our donation bins marked for the Toy Drive or put them under the Christmas trees in the Sanctuary and Chapel. If you prefer to shop online, please use this wish list through Amazon or Target. You can have them shipped directly to the South Atlanta Christmas Store.

Upcoming Events

Hanging of the Greens

Join us for our annual Hanging of the Greens service as we prepare our worship space for Advent and Christmas. Together we will place evergreens—symbols of both the eternal Word made flesh and the promise of unending life—in our sanctuary as signs of hope and celebration. This meaningful time of worship and fellowship invites all ages to participate as we begin the season together.

The Very Best Time of Year

A Concert Presented by The Festival Singers of Atlanta

The Festival Singers of Atlanta invite you to the first concert of the 2025-2026 season with a program titled The Very Best Time of Year. The concert theme is taken from John Rutter’s song of the same title plus other music to brighten the winter holidays of Chanukkah, and Christmas. The program will feature A Consort of Christmas Carols by P. D. Q. Bach. This piece will be balanced with more traditional carols from across the centuries.

The program is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary. You don't want to miss this evening of festive performance!

Tickets

Guns to Gardens

Reasons to participate:

  • In an average year, 2,005 people die by guns in Georgia. 221 are children and teens. Guns are the leading cause of death among children and teens.
  • Black children and teens are 4 times more likely than their white peers to die by guns.
  • Gun violence costs Georgia $23.9 billion each year, of which $597.8 million is paid by taxpayers – that’s $2,249 per resident each year.
  • If you are unable to properly store a gun and fear that a child will get hold of the gun, this is an opportunity to safely surrender an unwanted gun.
