Sermon Scripture:

Jonah 1:4–6

4 But the Lord hurled a great wind upon the sea, and such a mighty storm came upon the sea that the ship threatened to break up. 5 Then the sailors were afraid, and each cried to his god. They threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten it for them. Jonah, meanwhile, had gone down into the hold of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep. 6 The captain came and said to him, “What are you doing sound asleep? Get up; call on your god! Perhaps the god will spare us a thought so that we do not perish.”

We made it to March! Don't forget to adjust your clock by moving it one hour forward at 2:00 AM this Sunday. But let's be honest, we'll all wake up on Sunday morning and our technology will have already done it for us. Isn't great to live in the twenty-first century!

Spring is just around the corner, and with it, longer days and warmer nights. Can you smell the lilies yet? Speaking of lilies...

Make Your Mark Day

At Saint Mark, we believe that service is not just something we do. It’s who we are. Scripture reminds us that “each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace” (1 Peter 4:10). On Make Your Mark Day, we live that out together, side by side.

This month, we’re turning our attention to one of the most hardworking spaces in our church: Wade Hall. The kitchen and stage area support countless gatherings, meals, celebrations, and moments of worship. As a result of all of that, they’re ready for some intentional care. Join us as we roll up our sleeves to:

  • Deep clean the kitchen surfaces, appliances, and storage areas
  • Organize shelves and supplies
  • Tidy, dust, and refresh the stage area
  • Make both spaces feel welcoming, safe, and ready for ministry

Whether you love organizing, enjoy hands-on cleaning, or simply want to serve in a tangible and meaningful way, this is your opportunity. No special skills needed—just a willing heart.

Come help us make Saint Mark shine a little brighter.

The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture

film screening

Saint Mark UMC is partnering with Free Mom Hugs to host a community screening and conversation around the documentary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture.

This award-winning film explores how a single word—first introduced into the Bible in 1946—helped reshape Christian theology, church culture, and lived experience for generations. Through historical research, personal stories, and faithful inquiry, the film invites viewers to reflect deeply on Scripture, translation, and love. This free event will be followed by a shared meal and thoughtful conversation with director Rocky Roggio and Dr. Angela Parker.
