The ReMarks
July 29, 2026
| | Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” 17 They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” 18 And he said, “Bring them here to me.” 19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and blessed and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 And all ate and were filled, and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. 21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. | | |
Sometimes, life can be incredibly chaotic. It often seems like we don’t have enough or that enough isn’t being done. As we live our lives, it can become difficult to focus on God and trust that God is walking alongside us. Courage can feel foreign and faith can be difficult. And oftentimes it seems like we’re being asked to be part of something that feels like it’s far too much for us to carry.
On August 2nd we begin a new sermon series: Faith That Holds in Real Life. Throughout August, we’ll learn about how we can hold onto our trust in God, or how our trust in God holds us, as we strive to live lives that reflect Jesus in the world.

| | A New Grief Support Group at Saint Mark | | |
Grief is no small thing. It's also a journey we are not meant to walk alone. Beginning on August 11th, Scott Boozer will facilitate a grief support group for both individual and collective grief. There is no expectation that you have the right words or that you share more than you are ready to share. All you need to do is show up, bring your curiosity, and allow yourself to be surrounded by people offering compassion and understanding.
Mr. Boozer is not only a member of this church, but he's also the Director of the Management Concepts School of Federal Leadership Excellence, and has made a career serving as an internal human resources executive in Fortune 50 companies.
If you are wondering whether this group might be helpful to you, please join us. This group will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:00 p.m. in the parlor.
Walk through this season of your life with care, patience, hope and support.
