January 2021 Newsletter
Happy 2021 on behalf of the entire team here at REACH. We are kicking off 2021 with a big move, publications, a growing team and optimism into the year ahead.

As one of our valued supporters, we will be communicating updates with you monthly. We encourage you to email us if you have questions, and share this message with folks you know that would like to learn more about our organization.

Publication in Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment
We are proud to announce the publication of "Telemedicine increases access to buprenorphine initiation during the COVID-19 pandemic" in Science Direct Academic Journal, Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment.

REACH CEO, Dr. Justine Waldman, Dr. Elizabeth Bogel Ryan & Dr. Judy Griffin all of REACH Medical contributed to the publication.

REACH Research Spotlight
REACH has formed a dedicated Research Department in order to continuously evaluate and improve the REACH model of care. The Research Department works closely with other ongoing efforts at REACH, including Outreach and the Peer Advisory Board. With funding from the Pew Charitable Trusts Community Opioid Response Evaluation (CORE) initiative, we are currently partnering with researchers from Weill Cornell to develop evaluation tools to study REACH services and its impact on the community.

The CORE evaluation will take place through May 2022 and we will be sharing updates on social media platforms and in this newsletter!
Exciting News: We're Moving Office Locations!
402 Cayuga Street location has been a wonderful home and birth place to REACH for the last 3 years. In an effort to unify our team and best support our patients we are officially moving. The REACH Project's facility in Ithaca will be located at 1001 West Seneca Street Ithaca NY, 14850 housing all clinical and administrative staff.

The move will be complete by February 1, 2021.

We will be expanding our footprint to occupy the entire first floor and keep our existing admin space on the second floor. The space is ideal for our needs including ample clinical space, waiting rooms, office spaces, a kitchen, conference room and bright light throughout.

NYS Harm Reduction Association Applauds Governor's Proposal for Marijuana Reform, Plans Virtual Town Hall to Discuss Relevant Issues
"The New York State Harm Reduction Association (NYSHRA), a statewide network of harm reduction organizations and professionals, supports Governor Cuomo’s proposal to legalize marijuana for adult use. As proponents of sensible drug policy, NYSHRA believes that marijuana reform has the potential to mitigate long-standing inequities and disproportionate treatment of key communities, including people of color. To educate the community on the benefits of marijuana reform and considerations for implementation, NYSHRA is planning a virtual town hall on the topic (date to be announced soon)…"
