Local Work and National Partners
The Literacy Alliance combines the power of volunteer tutors with professional educators at a local level. While that work is focused on the Northeast Florida community, we also work with national partners to ensure those volunteers and instructors have all the training and professional development they need to stay current on best practices. We are proud to be Members of two national groups–the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) and ProLiteracy–that advocate, support, and ensure the quality of local adult learning programs throughout the country.
Sherri Jackson, the Literacy Alliance’s Corrections Education Director, recently represented us at COABE’s national conference in Nashville where she was able to bring back new research, techniques and ideas for adult literacy and adult education.
