The Real Innovator of Extraordinary Travel

Mabuhay! Apa khabar? Ayubowan! Nǐ hǎo! Hello, partners and friends!

When we think of the world’s greatest landmarks that mark top destinations, we picture majestic palaces, towering architectural wonders, and breathtaking gardens, among other things. We marvel at the renowned architects, engineers, and artists who brought them to life. But what if we told you that the most extraordinary innovator of all — the true pioneer of travel and life itself — needs no introduction? The ultimate source of inspiration for all great minds has always been nature.

Take, for instance, the golden ratio — nature’s perfect blueprint of harmony. It is found everywhere, from the delicate spirals of seashells to the vast symmetry of mountain ranges. Nature’s design is beyond replication — rooted in balance, purpose, and resilience. Every coastline, forest, and peak is an unparalleled work of art, shaped over millennia, offering beauty and intention that no human creation can match. For travellers, these natural marvels offer limitless adventure and timeless experiences, making nature the ultimate innovator for those seeking something extraordinary.

In this edition, we invite you and your guests to discover nature’s genius firsthand through immersive, memorable journeys. Guided by our passionate General Managers and Directors across the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and China, we are proud to present exclusive new products and beloved favourites for the traveller who craves more than just a trip. From destinations that use nature’s gifts as the backdrop for immersive cultural experiences, to thrilling adventures in a grand playground shaped by aeons of earth’s formations, and even to the chilling, mysterious beauty that nature hides away — waiting to be discovered by the boldest explorers — each journey promises something compelling for you and your guests.

Also in this edition, we’re excited to introduce our delegates for the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024! We would love to meet you at one of the travel industry’s biggest events to talk more about innovations in extraordinary travel, and explore partnership opportunities. Be sure to schedule an appointment with our team using the links provided in this newsletter. We look forward to connecting with you there!

We invite you and your travellers to uncover these hidden treasures. Together, let’s craft travel experiences that leave a lasting impression, where the true genius of exploration is revealed by the world’s most creative innovator.

Philippines

In the Philippines, our General Manager Gregor Zajc unveils a hidden and mysterious destination tucked away in the lushness of untouched nature, “We invite travellers to set foot on Lamanoc Island in Anda, Bohol where nature and mysticism intertwine. This isle offers more than just breathtaking beauty — it’s a gateway to a rich and mysterious heritage, where the echoes of ancient rituals and nature spirits linger in the air. The Lamanoc Mystic Island Tour will take them deeper into the heart of this enigmatic place, with every sight, sound, and sensation telling a story deeply rooted in folklore and the natural world.”

Your guests’ journey begins on a long bamboo boardwalk, suspended above the waters, guiding them through a maze of mangroves. The scent of saltwater mingles with the earthy aroma of these plants, as the rustling leaves and distant calls of hidden creatures create a symphony of nature. Here, time slows down — allowing them to admire the dance of light filtering through the dense foliage.

The path then leads them to Lamanoc’s lush landscapes, where towering limestone cliffs stand as silent sentinels. In these sacred grounds, local priests and medicine men once called upon nature spirits, offering rituals for bountiful harvests and safe journeys. Your travellers may even find themselves participating in an offering — a moment that connects them with the island’s spiritual essence. It’s an experience that transcends the ordinary, allowing them to honour centuries-old customs by the island’s inhabitants.

The journey takes a deeper turn as they venture into the caverns of Lamanoc, where shadows play across boat coffins and broken clay jars, remnants of a time when life and death were intertwined with the sea. The prehistoric graffiti etched into the rock shelters whispers of stories long forgotten, while a giant clam shell embedded in stone tells of a time when these cliffs rose from the ocean’s depths.

“Lamanoc Island is more than a destination — it’s an invitation to explore the unseen, to listen to the stories carved into the landscape, and to connect with the ancient spirit that still thrives in this hidden corner of the Philippines,” Gregor shares in conclusion. “Here, every moment is a chance to uncover the magic of a place where time stands still and true adventure begins.”

Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, Managing Director Suranjith De Fonseka highlights his top nature adventures in the island nation. “Sri Lanka is brimming with natural wonders. It can be overwhelming to choose, but that’s why I’m excited to share some of the most extraordinary, off-the-beaten-path destinations that your travellers can explore,” he reveals.

Step back in time and explore the serene, rural village of Heeloya in the Kandy district. This very remote, tranquil village offers an authentic glimpse into Sri Lanka’s deep-rooted agricultural traditions and community customs that have remained largely unchanged by modernity. “Heeloya represents the soul of Sri Lanka,” Suranjith explains. “Here, explorers can immerse in the simplicity and beauty of village life deeply rooted in nature — from working the land to savouring meals made with freshly harvested fruits and vegetables. It’s not just a journey into the past, but a genuine window into the Sri Lankan way of life.”

During this journey, your guests will engage with the village life, participating in activities like plucking fruits and vegetables, toddy tapping (the process of extracting sap to make “raa,” a local alcoholic beverage), bee-keeping, participating in traditional dances, and even observing historical customs, such as how justice was once dispensed by the village headman. They will also visit the stunning Heeloya waterfall, explore local herbs and plants, and savour an authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience. This adventure is more than just sightseeing — it’s an opportunity to deeply connect with local culture and experience the heart of Sri Lanka while trekking through breathtaking landscapes.

For those seeking the ultimate tranquillity in nature, the Secret Waterfall Tour offers a perfect escape. Set in Sri Lanka’s central highlands, this exclusive VIP tour reveals secluded waterfalls within pristine landscapes. With personalised pick-up and guidance from our friendly, English-speaking experts, this journey promises both relaxation and excitement. “There’s nothing quite like discovering a hidden waterfall where the air is fresh and the water sparkles with life,” says Suranjith. “We’ve crafted this experience for those who crave solitude, natural beauty, and a deeper connection with Sri Lanka’s stunning wilderness.”

On this tour, your travellers will enjoy a private high tea setup by a majestic waterfall, indulging in local delicacies while surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature. The day also includes refreshing dips in crystal-clear waters and a unique keepsake — an aerial photograph of their picturesque high tea moment, captured by drone.

“Whether exploring hidden waterfalls or experiencing remote Sri Lankan village life, these adventures offer a rare opportunity to connect with the natural beauty far flung from the typical and crowded spots,” Suranjith adds. “Let the quiet tranquillity of these experiences be a story worth telling for your travellers.”

Singapore

Over in Singapore, General Manager Jane Boo sheds a new light on the city’s identity — from concrete wilderness into a city teeming with nature. “Many people are surprised to learn just how many natural escapes Singapore offers. We are far more than just an urban jungle,” she explains. Jane spotlights her three favourite underrated destinations that provide the perfect opportunity for travellers to reconnect with nature and experience a side of Singapore that often goes unnoticed.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a destination rich in mangrove ecosystems and diverse wildlife. This reserve features unique boardwalks and trails that take your explorers through mudflats and lush mangroves. Advise them to keep their eyes peeled, as they might be lucky enough to spot a saltwater crocodile basking along the path or a Komodo dragon darting by, not to mention the stunning migratory birds that grace the reserve during their seasonal journey. “Sungei Buloh is a hidden gem for those who appreciate the tranquillity of nature and the bustles of wildlife. Whether you’re a bird-watching enthusiast or someone who loves exploring unique ecosystems, this reserve offers a rare opportunity to witness nature’s wonders in Singapore,” Jane remarks.

A short 10-minute bumboat ride from Changi Point Ferry Terminal transports your guests to Pulau Ubin, a small island that feels like stepping into a bygone era. Rustic, untouched, and brimming with old-world charm, Pulau Ubin offers a glimpse of Singapore’s past, long before it became a modern metropolis. Explore its trails by bike or on foot and marvel at its natural beauty and wildlife. Jane further shares, “Pulau Ubin offers an authentic experience for travellers who want to see what Singapore was like decades ago. It’s a peaceful retreat where you can immerse in nature while uncovering the island’s history.”

Finally, for those who prefer a quieter experience away from the crowds, Tampines Eco Green is a lesser-known park that places a strong emphasis on preserving the local ecosystem. Its walking and cycling paths meander through forested areas and grasslands, offering a tranquil environment to observe wildlife. Your guests may even catch a glimpse of a Komodo dragon flashing past! Located near Singapore’s heartlands, this eco-friendly park is a perfect stop for adventurers looking for a peaceful retreat. “Tampines Eco Green is a sanctuary for those seeking solace in nature. Though an off the beaten path, it offers rich biodiversity and a tranquil atmosphere, making it a wonderful addition to any traveller’s itinerary,” Jane adds.

“As Singapore continues to evolve, it does so with a vision that nurtures nature rather than competes with it. We believe that this harmonious relationship with nature is what makes our island so extraordinary,” Jane shares in conclusion. “We invite you and your travellers to experience this balance firsthand, where every journey connects humans with the living landscape that defines Singapore’s identity.”

China

Last but certainly not least, in China, Managing Director Fan Zhang invites travellers on an extraordinary journey: an ultimate cruising adventure along one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders. “Nothing says the ultimate nature adventure like cruising through the grand and historical Yangtze River,” he shares.

Introducing the Three Gorges Cruise: a majestic 2,400 kilometres, 12-day journey from Shanghai to Chongqing — spanning over six provinces and cities. “If you think cruises are for retirees looking to slow down, it’s time to rethink that. This cruise offers the adventure of a lifetime against the backdrop of one of China’s most renowned natural marvels,” Fan excitingly shares.

This voyage provides a chance to witness some of China’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, including a sail along the iconic Three Gorges, visits to seven National 5A Scenic Sites — the highest honour for China’s most significant and well-preserved attractions — and explorations of seven historic, culturally rich ancient cities, among other highlights.

Here are some standout features of the trip that will surely enrich your explorers’ itinerary:

Mt. Lushan in Jiujiang

This UNESCO World Heritage site stands as one of China’s most majestic landmarks, both in terms of natural beauty and cultural significance. Famous for its sheer cliffs, mist-covered peaks, and deep gorges, Lushan’s dramatic landscapes have inspired poets, scholars, and Buddhist monks for over 1,500 years. What sets Mt. Lushan apart is its unique blend of breathtaking nature and profound cultural heritage. The mountain is adorned with temples, academies, and monasteries, offering a spiritual retreat amid serene valleys and hidden waterfalls, including the renowned Three-Step Waterfall, which plunges 155 metres down rugged rock faces. The lush scenery evolves with the seasons, making it a year-round destination, each visit revealing a different facet of its beauty.

Nestled in the heart of this mountain is the famous Lushan Botanical Gardens, home to over 3,000 plant species, making it a haven for botanists and nature enthusiasts alike.

Mt. Jiuhua in Chizhou

As one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains, this geological wonder offers an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and spiritual depth. The sprawling mountain range is famous for its 99 peaks, with Shiwang Peak reaching a towering 1,342 metres. As your guests ascend the mountain, the landscape transitions from dense forests and wildflower meadows to rugged cliffs and serene temples nestled within the clouds.

Beyond its natural allure, Mt. Jiuhua holds immense cultural significance as a major pilgrimage site. The mountain is dotted with over 90 temples, many of which are centuries old. These sacred sites offer moments of quiet reflection and a chance to witness Buddhist rituals. One of the highlights is the Tiantai Temple, perched atop one of the highest peaks, where sweeping views of the surrounding landscape make for a breathtaking reward after a challenging hike.

Xiling Gorge

This gorge is the longest and widely regarded as the most scenic of the Three Gorges, stretching over 66 kilometres along the Yangtze River. Renowned for its striking limestone cliffs, rugged terrain, and mesmerising waters, Xiling Gorge showcases the raw power of nature. Unlike the Qutang and Wu Gorges, Xiling is more intricate, with its series of rapids, whirlpools, and complex rock formations, creating a breathtaking spectacle for travellers. Historically, the swift currents made this gorge perilous, but modern engineering, including the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, has tamed the waters, allowing visitors to safely admire its stunning natural beauty.

The beauty of Xiling Gorge goes beyond its vastness. Its landscapes shift throughout the day as sunlight paints different hues on the cliffs and water, offering a constantly changing panorama of nature’s artistry.

This grand and luxurious cruise is hosted aboard the Century Legend, a cutting-edge, eco-friendly vessel powered by state-of-the-art electric propulsion. Known for its whisper-quiet operation, the Century Legend offers an elegant and tranquil cruising experience, seamlessly blending modern technology with exceptional comfort. With its refined amenities and impeccable service, this renowned cruise ship has become a top choice for discerning travellers from Europe and America, delivering an unparalleled level of hospitality on the majestic Yangtze River.

“At its heart, this voyage seeks to highlight the profound importance of this iconic natural wonder and its historical impact on trade, culture, society, and Chinese identity as a whole, offering a deeper appreciation of its enduring legacy and beauty,” Fan shares. He concludes thoughtfully, “I hope that each enriching stop allows your travellers to create cherished memories that, like mine, will resonate long after their journey concludes.”
