Ageism Awareness

October 7th was Ageism Awareness Day and AAA9 took the opportunity to draw attention to the existence and impact of ageism. It is one of the most widespread and socially accepted forms of prejudice. Ageism intersects and exacerbates all the other "isms", including racism, sexism, and ableism.

For more information on combating ageism in all its forms and reframing aging in our communities, visit American Society on Aging.

Employee Appreciation Fall Fest and Christmas Party

'Healthy Aging Grants' for Older Adults Go Live

Healthy Aging Grant funds are being utilized by the Ohio Department of Aging to provide grants to all Ohio counties. The grants aim to address social determinants of health and foster improved quality of life for older Ohioans so they may remain in their homes and connected to their communities, preserve their personal assets, and promote a healthy, independent, active lifestyle.

The period of the Healthy Aging Grants runs from 10/1/23 through 9/30/24.

Grant recipients are required to allocate a portion of the funding to the following services: food assistance, housing assistance, internet access and digital literacy, and evidence-based/evidence-informed services.

For more information on Healthy Aging Grants, visit Healthy Aging | Department of Aging (ohio.gov)

Holiday Card Drive

AAA9 staff will be participating in a holiday card drive during the month of December. Heartfelt messages will be handwritten inside the cards to spread some cheer to seniors during the holiday season.

AAA9 Honors Tusky Valley Community

To show support to Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools and the Tusky Valley community, AAA9 staff wore red and black on Tuesday, November 21st, one week after the tragic accident that took the lives of 3 students, 3 adults, and injured 18 others. Our deepest condolences to the Tusky Valley Band, families, and all Tusky Valley Trojans in this difficult time.

The AAA9 Foundation is donating $1,000 to the TVStrong fund on behalf of the AAA9 staff. We invite others who would like to donate to visit the GoFundMe link below. The Trojan Foundation has established a fund at First Federal Community Bank where they are asking all funds to be sent. GoFundMe funds are deposited into the First Federal account as well.
