St. John's Neighbourhood Summit with Happy City
The inaugural St. John’s Neighbourhood Summit is scheduled for 9-5 Saturday, September 22. Presented by Happy City St. John’s, in partnership with The Harris Centre, the Summit is a day-long event focused on building neighbourhood capacity in the City of St. John’s, and will include sessions ranging from how to build and maintain a neighbourhood association to placemaking to bike network design to connecting with your city councillors.

Community Revitalization Through Reinvention
Communities experiencing ups and downs sometimes draw the conclusion that something entirely new is needed - a reinvention. But given each community and region has its own set of assets and challenges, the best solution will be different for each place. In this session, University of Alberta’s Dr. Kristof Van Assche and his team discuss opportunities and obstacles for reinvention and examine how communities can draw on their own local strengths and assets to tailor a solution to build a path forward.
