The Rescue for PTSD #GivingTuesday & Fall Newsletter
A Message from Our Board
2020 may not have gone the way we planned but what a year! Our second service dog Hailey had her 1-year anniversary and we are so happy that she and her veteran Jason are doing so well! We currently have three dogs in full training (Honor, Tango & Apollo), our monthly group lesson program has exceeded all expectations and we had 2 Canine-Veteran teams graduate from the Monthly Group Program this year!

We have size large T-shirts and 2021 calendars available from our 2 fundraisers, please call or email if you are interested in purchasing!

We hope everyone stays safe and healthy this holiday season. Thank you for your support!
TANGO Update
Tango the most recent addition to the Rescue for PTSD family. He came to us as an owner surrender and was originally from the Houston SPCA. We think he is an Aussie mix, but all we care about is that he is super sweet, super snuggly and super smart! Tango was recently paired with his Veteran Ken, who happens to be our Vice President! Ken is a retired Marine Colonel who has led a very interesting life which you can read about here. Ken and Tango will finish up their service dog team journey in our Monthly Group Lesson Program and are already well on their way to graduating!
Apollo was surrendered to The Rescue for PTSD from a wonderful family who had rescued him from a terrible living situation. He is an amazingly loving and gentle dog who is doing a great job learning how to actually be a dog. He is working hard on his obedience and service skills. Stay tuned for more of Apollo’s adventures below and check in on his progress on our Facebook page!
HONOR Update
Honor is a very bold and incredibly intelligent (not to mention sassy!) little girl. She is a great swimmer, loves to hike, has mastered her advanced obedience and has learned NUMEROUS service skills. Learning new tasks and snuggling are her two favorite things! Honor has passed her AKC STAR Puppy Test, AKC Good Citizen Test, and Public Access test. We are currently evaluating Lone Survivor Foundation Veteran applications that were submitted for Honor and hope to pair her with her new Veteran in early 2021! You can learn more about Honor on her webpage here.
Monthly Group Lesson Program Update:
Our monthly group lessons are a huge success! We now have 18 Veterans participating in this program, 3 of whom are new members and we are on the lookout to help them adopt canine partners. We are thrilled to share that Andrew & Anubis and Ryan & Eleanor "Ellie" both graduated our program this fall and the girls now proudly sport "service dog" patches on their vests! You can learn more about our Monthly Group Lesson teams here!

We are so grateful to our fantastic trainer Sam with Working Paws K9 Training for donating her time to help our Veterans. We are looking forward to sharing more success stories in 2021!
