The Return of Champions for Children in Pictures and Videos *
After almost three years, almost 800 people attended the Champions for Children Award Ceremony in person on May 24. Among the attendees were staff, board members, child advocates, community leaders, and providers as we honored those who dedicate their lives to serving children and families. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the announcement that Sept. 10 was proclaimed as “The Children’s Trust Day” by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and the board of county commissioners. Help Trust, UM Develop Culturally Humble Guide to SEW and Get Gift Card!
Project SEW is co-developing a Culturally Humble Guide to Social Emotional Wellness (SEW) with Trust-funded providers. We are seeking your input and feedback about how to enhance social emotional wellness workplace practices. Each session is scheduled to last 75 minutes with a max of 10 participants/session. New Date! Fiscal Processes and Policy Sessions, Friday, June 24
The Trust has a new date for the Fiscal Processes and Policy Sessions. The sessions will now be held on Friday, June 24. We will take a deeper dive into the long-term items discussed at our last provider meeting.
Who should attend: The individual(s) at your agency who make fiscal decisions and create your fiscal documents (budget, amendments, invoices)
When:
  • Parenting, Family Strengthening, Benefits Enrollment & Early Childhood Providers @ 9 a.m.
  • Youth Development K-5 & 6-12 Providers @ 11 a.m.
  • School-Based Health & Oral Health Providers @ 2 p.m.
  • For all other initiatives, please check in with your Program Manager. Trust Academy, Innovation and FNSP providers will participate in separate sessions as part of your onboarding.

UM Team COACH: Support of Parenting Program Providers
Live Training: Join us for two live trainings this June!
1. Finding Stress Management Strategies that Work for You (Wednesday, June 8; 12-1 p.m.): In this training you will learn and practice several stress reduction strategies to calm your body and mind. 2. Building the Road to Family Engagement: Practical Tools for Parenting Programs (Wednesday, June 22; 12-1 p.m.): After this training, you’ll be able to identify at least three tools and strategies to improve caregiver engagement and retention in your program. We know that every provider and program experiences different challenges related to engagement, so this training will be tailored to the needs of the attendees. Communities of Practice: Join a community where Parenting Providers support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. CoPs are held monthly (the first week of the month) and are currently being offered virtually. CoPs will be held until June, with a summer break in July and August. CoPs will start back up again the first week of September. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.

1. Parent Stressors & Barriers: This CoP is held on the first Wednesday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Wednesday, June 1 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. 2. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment: This CoP is held on the first Thursday of each month. The next CoP will be held on Thursday, June 2 from 10-11 a.m. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. 3. Practical Strategies and Equipment for Hybrid Delivery of Services: This CoP will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Flexible delivery of services is more important than ever. In this CoP, we will discuss innovative and practical strategies for engaging caregivers and children during hybrid sessions (sessions delivered both in-person and virtually). Coaching and Consultation: UM Team COACH also provides coaching and consultation that is individualized to your needs, and at the pace and day/time that works for you and your team. Understanding the Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.

Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.

Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1
You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment.
This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

Time Change for Differentiated Literacy Instruction from Project RISE *
Differentiated Literacy Instruction on June 9, 12-2 p.m. In this virtual training, certified teachers learn how to use reading assessment data from the ORF and Maze to identify struggling readers and develop reading intervention plans unique to each student. Certified teachers will also learn how to create a plan of action to differentiate reading instruction. Please register for this training on Trust Academy. Fit 2 Lead Summer Program Looking for Interns
The Fit 2 Lead Summer Program, which runs from June 20-August 7, is looking for high-school-aged youth , 15-19, in order to provide a safe, structured environment for youth to learn, be mentored and earn money over the summer. The interns will receive a part-time job at a county park or department and will earn $13.88 an hour while working up to 25 hours per week, which may include weekends. Schedule Free Mental Health Presentation for Children in Your Organization
Teach youth about mental wellness with a FREE program "Ending the Silence" (ETS) presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness Miami-Dade County. Information and Data Technology Director at The Children's Trust *
The Information and Data Technology (IDT) Director position directs the overall leadership, strategy and management of the information and data technology initiatives undertaken to support the vision, leadership, and goals of The Children’s Trust. The IDT Director ensures the continuous delivery of responsive systems to ensure timely and accurate data to maximize financial, strategic, and operational goals. The incumbent directs and coordinates the planning, implementation, and integration of:

  • Information and data technology budgeting 
  • Strategic and tactical planning 
  • Project Management of IDT Project Components
  • Coordinating Applications support 
  • Network and infrastructure Supervision and Management
  • Hosted services including, but not limited to, SaaS and IaaS 
  • User services(e.g., help desk, desktop support, training for internal staff and external service providers)

The Information and Data Technology Director reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). Work performance is reviewed by the COO through conferences, reports and observations of results achieved.
Community Engagement Manager at The Children's Trust
The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for performing a variety of community-driven duties with an emphasis on maintaining contact with community groups, parents, and other caregivers, providing support to residents on children’s needs, as well as evaluating and responding to community needs concerning children. The incumbent exercises independence of action and will possess considerable knowledge of community activities and needs for children and families and use considerable professional judgment in the performance of community engagement work.
IT Manager at The Children's Trust
The Children's Trust’s Information Technology (IT) team is responsible to implement strategically aligned solutions to increase the use of information to support decision-making to meet financial, strategic, and operational goals. The IT team supports all departments throughout The Trust, and its community networks and provider partnerships. The IT Manager's role is to collaborate and engage with systems and report developers throughout the development cycle to ensure that user requirements are met. Testing is a vital part of the development lifecycle and is critical to meeting user requirements and delivering quality solutions in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The Children’s Trust ecosystem provides support for staff to work with full functionality whether onsite or remote. The IT Manager implements the security measures in alignment with cybersecurity strategy and coordinates risk mitigation activities. The IT Manager serves as the contract manager for IT contracts. This role requires exceptional communication, coordination, and organizational problem-solving skills.
Program Manager at The Children's Trust
The Program Manager position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This position requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation. This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. S/he is responsible for utilizing change management, knowledge, skills, and behaviors to promote continuous quality improvement throughout the assigned contracts and projects. This person will be assigned a caseload of contracts and may serve as initiative/project lead.
Solution Specialist at The Children's Trust
The Solutions Specialist executes on solutions design in response to business priorities and vetted requirements. This position conducts unit testing and validates use cases to ensure solution aligns with requirements. This position maintains and implements routine solutions under the guidance of senior data team members. The position is a key business/technical resource for staff. As emerging technologies develop, the Solution Specialist is expected to learn these technologies quickly, assess their impact and identify user needs to assist with integrating new technologies with The Trust’s systems. The Solution Specialist works with senior department staff to understand the structure, policies, and operations of the organization and to implement solutions that enable The Trust to achieve its information-based strategic and operational goals. Works collaboratively as a member of the solutions team and may work on diverse technical solutions including supporting all department functions.
Technology & Data Specialist at The Children's Trust
The Technology and Data Specialist reports to the IT Manager and is responsible for providing data and technical support to members of the Data Team and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include providing support to augment the services provided by The Trust’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) partner, assisting with on-site or hybrid meetings utilizing technology, triaging and troubleshooting tickets as they are submitted for Data Team support, and configuring routine requests based on validated requirements. Performance is reviewed through meetings, reports, and observation of results achieved.
Research & Evaluation Analyst at The Children's Trust
The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. Primary responsibilities include: contributing to effective program and systems designs for The Children’s Trust’s priority investments in child, youth and family services; designing and maintaining sound data collection tools and systems to capture meaningful program, operational and community data in a user-friendly, accessible manner; and analyzing and making meaning from available data to tell our stories using compelling visualizations and reports, with an intentional focus on the specific audience and purpose of the message.
