Thistle Farms
Love Heals
The work of love is to keep lighting the way for millions of women still searching for a way out. Thistle Farms is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors recover and heal from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction. We do this by providing a safe place to live, a meaningful job, and a lifelong sisterhood of support. Thistle Farms

We hope that you will take the time to learn more, and perhaps support, the work of Thistle Farms. Then make sure to join us for this Wednesday's Lent Speaker Series featuring The Rev. Becca Stevens.

Palm Sunday
March 28 @ 10:00 a.m.
Palm Sunday, also called Passion Sunday, in the Christian tradition, the first day of Holy Week and the Sunday before Easter, commemorating Jesus Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Join us this Palm Sunday at our outdoor service at 10:00 a.m. in the church courtyard. Remember, you must wear a mask and maintain a safe social distance from others at all times. You will need to check-in at the front gate, have your temperature taken, and sign-in.

Children's Chapel will begin at 10:00 a.m. around the flagpole. Children who are age 4-11 are invited to join Charlette Preslar in the outdoor classroom; they will join their parents for communion.

If you are unable to attend in person we hope that you will log-on to the Christ Church Facebook page to join us live. You do not have to have a Facebook account to view the live stream. We will be broadcasting in real-time so it will be just like you're here with us! A link to the bulletin will be on the worship page of the parish website.
Parish News
Book of Common Prayer
Purchase your own?
We, who are many and diverse, come together in Christ through our worship, our common prayer. The prayer book, most recently revised in 1979, contains our liturgies, our prayers, our theological documents, and much, much more. The Episcopal Church

This Sunday we will begin using the Book of Common Prayer in our Sunday worship. We encourage you to bring your own or use a church copy that will be available. If you would like to purchase a prayer book parishioner Kathryn Bunch, of K-B Books, has them for sale. Check Here for pricing. Kathryn will deliver your purchase to the church office for pickup.
Easter Flowers
In loving memory and thanksgiving
Beautiful potted lilies will adorn our Easter and Eastertide services. A small donation to the flower fund will help fund this purchase. Just $10 in memory of a loved one, in thanksgiving for family and friends, or in gratitude for all of your blessings this last year, will be helpful. Donor names will be included in the Easter bulletin. You may donate any amount by cash, check, or credit card. Flower donation envelopes will be available at church this Sunday. Please note in the memo who or what the donation is to honor. The last date for donations to be noted in the bulletin is Wednesday March 31.

Wear Your Name Badge
Nice to see you all again!
We've been away from in-person church for so long we've forgotten some of our Sunday morning habits. To help everyone recognize one another behind our masks, please wear your Christ Church name badge. If you need to order a badge contact Christie Tugend - they are $10. Orders take 8-10 business days.
No Food or Drink
Protecting one another
Coffee and church just seem to go together. We miss our coffee hour and we've become accustomed to having a cup while we're worshipping on-line at home. However, to maintain all safety protocols and keep our masks in place, there is a no eating or drinking rule for Sunday services. Please have your coffee or water before or after service - thank you!
Holy Week
Maundy Thursday
Christ Church and St. Luke's
Christ Church will hold its Maundy Thursday service, April 1 at 12:00 noon in the church courtyard. Christ Church parishioners are also invited to participate in the Maundy Thursday service at St. Luke's, North Park Thursday evening. This will be a dinner service at tables in pandemic-spaced outdoor dining. The service will include Maundy Thursday scripture readings and a sermon or reflection. Space is limited and reservations are required. If you would like more information or would like to attend contact Sandy in the parish office.
Good Friday
April 2 @ 12:00 noon
Good Friday is the day that Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It occurs on the Friday before Easter and is often observed as a day of sorrow, penance, meditation, and fasting. Christ Church will worship on Good Friday, April 2 at 12:00 noon, in the Christ Church courtyard.

The Good Friday offering will provide support for the ministries of the four dioceses of the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Hear Bishop Currie's message.
Good Friday Pilgrimage Hike
An Invitation to Walk with Jesus
This Good Friday, April 2, you are invited to meet your Christ Church family at the parking lot of the Tijuana Estuary in Imperial Beach at 3:00 p.m. Together we will walk and pray the stations of the cross. This 4.5 mile hike takes us by the Navy base and down to the water. Sneakers, water bottles and waivers required.

Please contact Charlette to register. You'll need to sign a waiver at the event site to participate.
Holy Stories and Easter Egg Dyeing
April 3 @ 6:30 p.m.
Families are invited to the Christ Church courtyard on Holy Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Wear your coziest sweatshirt and bring your beach chairs. Together we will dye eggs with shaving cream, watch the Easter Vigil video produced by our diocesan youth, and assist with the final preparations for Easter Sunday. This special evening is the perfect way to prepare your heart for the resurrection on Sunday.
Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 4 - 6:00 and 10:00 a.m.
Come celebrate the resurrection with your Christ Church family at two Easter Sunday services in the church courtyard - the 6:00 a.m. Great Vigil and the 10:00 a.m. Easter service.

Although we will need to wait another year for our lovely Easter breakfast and fun-filled Easter Egg hunt, we will have the Flowering of the Cross this year. Bring your fresh cut blooms to adorn the cross that will reside in the Memorial Garden that afternoon.
Parish Office Closure
Enhanced safety for staff
For the safety of our staff. the parish office will remain closed to the public until after Easter. This means that only staff may be in the building. There is a basket with bulletins and formation resources by the front door, so don't hesitate to stop by to make a pick-up! However, we will be unable to let anyone inside. The phone will continue to be answered during office hours from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and all of the staff may be reached via email! In a pastoral emergency, you may contact Mtr. Regan Schutz (503) 915-5755 or Deacon Tom Morelli (619) 838-3218. Here is a link to our contact page.
