Obituary & Service Information for

The Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Engle

The Reverend Dr. Cynthia L. Engle was born on April 11, 1953 in Waco, Texas. She was received by the Lord on July 2, 2022.

 

A memorial service will be held in Cindy's honor on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Navasota, TX. The Rt. Rev. Kathryn "Kai" Ryan will officiate with assistance of The Rev. George McGavern, Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Tomball, Texas. Clergy attending the service are welcomed to vest, wearing a white stole. A reception will be held in the church's parish hall immediate after the service.


As a lifelong Episcopalian, Cindy dedicated her life to God. Raised mostly in “high church” expressions of Anglicanism, Cindy also experienced the gamut of Episcopal formation, from Renewal to Gospel to Christian Community.

 

She attended Del Mar College and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Cindy earned her Bachelor of Music degree with a double major in performance and education. She taught orchestra and was an accomplished violinist. She attended Trinity Episcopal school for Ministry in Ambridge Penn. completing her Masters of Divinity with an emphasis on Biblical studies.

 

Cindy earned her Ph.D. in Biblical Studies (Old Testament) from the University of Cambridge in England. She taught Hebrew at Fuller Theological Seminary and assisted at Iona School of Ministry in the Diocese of Texas. She served as parttime Rector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Navasota and St. Francis of Assisi in Prairie View for 8 years. She also served as regular supply clergy for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Orange, Texas and The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Tomball, Texas.

 

Cindy loved all animals. She especially loved riding horses. She loved music, traveling, exploring and gardening.

 

Cindy touched the lives of so many people all over the world. To know her spirit, you are truly dancing with God. Precious Cindy was anointed by the Holy Spirit. She was an honorable blessing from God.

 

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to your local animal shelter, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Navasota, TX or The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Tomball, TX.

God has blessed Cindy by taking her home, where she truly belongs, among the heavens.
