The Vestry and Wardens of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Louisville, with the full support of the Rt. Rev. Terry A. White Bishop of the Diocese of Kentucky, are pleased to announce that The Rev. Katherine Doyle has accepted the call to become their Rector.

The Rev. Katherine Doyle, who has been serving as Priest in Charge at St. Thomas since March 7, 2016, assumes her new role on June 1.

Both the recommendations of the Search and Profile Committees, as well as that of the Vestry, were unanimous.

Katherine, as she prefers to be called, (or Just Katherine as we have named her)graduated with a degree in English and Psychology from her beloved University of Virginia in 1990, Augusta State University with a masters in psychology in 1995, Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in 2011 with a MDiv, and Bexley Seabury in 2012 with a certificate in Anglican Studies. She was ordained to the Deaconate on May 19, 2012 and to the Priesthood on December 8, 2012 both by The Rt. Rev. Terry White. She began her ministry as the associate at Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville. She then served as long term supply for Trinity Episcopal in Owensboro Ky, and most recently as our Priest-in-Charge. Additionally Katherine serves on Trustees and Council, the All Saints Advisory board, Chair of the Diocesan Christian Formation committee, chaplain to the Daughters of the King, and Dean of the Northeast Deanery.

Katherine has been married to Louisvillian Chris Doyle for almost 24 years They have lived in 4 states and 2 countries but now call Louisville home. They have 4 children Sarah Katherine, Christopher, William, and Caroline. (She excitedly announces as of next week 3 will be high school graduates and the final a rising senior.) Katherine is grateful for the love and support her family extends to her and her ministry. We are excited to welcome the entire family.

The Rev. Doyle said St. Thomas is a perfect community for her. Katherine was drawn to the community’s openness to transformative work as well as their love for one another. Katherine holds both a strong baptismal and Eucharistic theology and she feels the same deep ardor from the St. Thomas community. She is eager to work with parishioners of all ages as they love one another, grow in their own faiths, and seek ways to serve all in God’s world. She is passionate about seeking and serving Christ in all people. She is finds great peace and excitement in being able to call St. Thomas home.

The Vestry is very grateful for the patience and direction offered by Bishop Terry White, Canon Amy Coultas, Canon to the Ordinary, and the St. Thomas Community during this process. We look forward to continued renewal and growth under The Rev. Doyle's guidance.
