IT'S TIME.

The 21st Annual Chum Rhubarb Festival is just days away, and the anticipation is real. Thousands of pounds of rhubarb have been harvested, hundreds of baking hours have already been logged, and our incredible volunteer army is gearing up for an unforgettable day. We are so grateful — and so ready.

Saturday, June 27, 9am–3pm

Asbury United Methodist Church (6822 Grand Avenue, Duluth)

Thank You, Harvesters and Bakers!

Before we talk about the fun — we have to say it: thank you. Our harvesting teams gathered thousands of pounds of fresh rhubarb, and our baking partners have been hard at work turning it into the pies, crisps, scones, jams, and jellies that make this festival what it is. Hundreds of volunteer hours have already been logged before the festival even opens its doors. To our jarring teams especially — you know who you are, and Duluth is about to find out. This community shows up — and it shows.

Volunteers: Don't forget to track your hours! Every hour counts.

Still Want to Volunteer? There's Still Time!

Volunteer Training is this Thursday evening at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5:30–7:30 PM. If you've been on the fence, now's the moment — we especially need help with crossing guards and first shift volunteers.

THE RHUBARB 101

(Everything You Need to Know about The 2026 Rhubarb Festival)

Pre-Rhubarb Party Schedule

Partial/all proceeds from supporting events & menu items goes to Chum operating costs! Please support and give a huge thank you to our local business partners for helping us create a more compassionate Duluth!

What to Expect on Festival Day

1.
Super One Bake Sale

Hundreds of homemade rhubarb creations — pies, crisps, scones, breads, coffee cakes, jams, jellies, and more — baked and jarred with love by community bakers across the region. Get there early; these go fast. Thousands of items sounds like plenty until you see how much Duluth loves rhubarb!

2.
North Shore Bank Coffee Shop

New this year: slices of pie and crisp available at the café. We also heard you — and responded — with meat-alternative options: rhubarb veggie brats and veggie burgers joining the rhubarb brats and hamburgers on the menu. Gluten-free options available while supplies last, plus a vegan rhubarb sorbet! Rhubarb lemonade and plenty of coffee, too. While supplies last!

3.

Merchandise

Show your Rhubarb Festival pride! We have some fantastic new items this year, including t-shirts, bandanas, and totes! Stop by and grab yours before they're gone.

4.

Raffle Baskets (and They Are STUNNING)

This year we have 63 beautifully curated raffle baskets totaling over $6,500 in value. We're talking fabulous prizes, and we need the community to come ready to try their luck. Browse the full basket list at chumduluth.org/rhubarb before you arrive — and rumor has it, there's a new character making her debut in the Raffle Basket area this year… say hello to Little Red! Please note: Raffle tickets are cash only — we cannot accept credit cards.

5.

Sofidel Stage

MC Kurt Johnson brings the energy all day, with DJ LeVar Patterson keeping the vibe going and members of the Big Time Jazz Orchestra taking the stage from 11 AM–12 PM.

6.

MPR's Inaugural Great Rhubarb Contest

Watch talented local bakers compete for the crown — judged by culinary luminaries Beatrice Ojakangas (Duluth's own legendary cookbook author, Pizza Role inventor, and long-time friend of Chum & The Rhubarb Festival), Kali Benrud (Bakery Manager at At Sara's Table Chester Creek Cafe), and Clay Masters (Host of MPR's All Things Considered.)

7.

Rhubarb Javelin Throw

Think you've got the arm for it? The Rhubarb Javelin presents two challenges: a Distance Challenge (throw a real rhubarb stalk as far as you can!) and an Accuracy Challenge (hit the bullseye!). Youth and adult divisions, all skill levels welcome. It's every bit as fun to watch as it is to throw.

8.

The Safe Bay Speedway Pinewood Derby - presented by The Shop

There's still time to build your car! Ribbons awarded for fastest car, most creative, crowd favorite, and best in show.

9.

Activities Area for All Ages

Coloring, a scavenger hunt, yard games, and more. There's something for everyone, from the littlest festival-goers to the young at heart.

10.

(And last but not least) Meet Chum staff!

All of Chum's programs will be represented on-site. Come say hello, ask questions, and learn more about how Chum serves our community every day.

Support Chum While You're There

The festival itself is a major fundraiser for Chum's programs — but if you'd like to make a direct donation, that's always the most impactful way to give. You can give at the festival or anytime at chumduluth.org.

Also, bring non-perishable food items for Chum's Food Shelf and/or gently used tents for our street outreach team. Drop them at the Food Shelf van at the Grand Avenue Entrance.

Help Us Be a Sustainable Event

We're committed to being good stewards of our community and our environment. Here's how you can help:

  • Carpool or bike to the festival when you can
  • Bring a reusable water bottle (and fill up for free at our hydration station)
  • Follow our Waste Team's guidance on sorting and disposal

Every little bit helps — thank you for partnering with us in this!

Getting There — All Parking at Spirit Mountain

All festival parking is at the Spirit Mountain Grand Avenue Chalet. A free shuttle from Voyager Bus Company runs from near the chalet directly to the festival grounds from 8 AM to 4 PM. Leave the parking hassle behind and enjoy the ride!

AND!
as a special treat, all of those who bike to the festival, use the shuttle, bring 3 food shelf items or a tent in good condition will receive a free scoop of ice cream! (while supplies last).

And as a reminder, please no pets and no smoking at the festival.

The 21st Annual Chum Rhubarb Festival is one of Duluth's most beloved summer traditions — and it's made possible by this incredible community.

WE'LL SEE YOU THERE!
