The Rhythm of Growing Together in God
Old and Young Together

This week I have been reminded of the many ways we have sent Holy Spiriters out into the world.  I heard from Andrew Lazo in anticipation of his classes starting soon at Virginia Theological Seminary.  As his sponsoring parish, I invite you to join me in praying for him and Christin as they enter into their seminary formation.  We will also be joined this coming Sunday morning by Jared Cook who is about halfway through his organ program at Baylor University.  Jared was our Organ Scholar while in high school and it will be so great to welcome him back to Holy Spirit!  It will also be a treat for our ears and our hearts, I'm sure.

Every spring we send students from Holy Spirit School into the brave new world of High School with prayers and we celebrate our graduating high school seniors at church who are transitioning into their new phase of life.  I have been at Holy Spirit long enough that young people I got to know well as teenagers have graduated from college and some have returned home which I hope means we will get to start seeing them again.

The ebb and flow of leaving and returning is a part of the formative process of life.  In these scenarios we get to see the wonder of growth and formation.  On a smaller scale, we do this week after week at Holy Spirit.  One of our clergy proclaims at the end of church a form of "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!" and we get to come back together the next Sunday to be greeted by music and the opening acclimation, "Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  And blessed be his Kingdom, now and for ever. Amen."  I pray that as we continue to go and come back to our shared faith home, that we will see God at work around us during the week, and rejoice to worship our God together on Sundays.

I look forward to the year ahead together in God's presence and I pray that we will notice all the ways God is at work in our lives.

See you in church,

Would you like to learn more about the Enneagram? Have you heard about it, but not quite sure what it is or how it applies to your life?

The Enneagram is a model of 9 interconnected personality type s which stands apart from other personality typing systems because of its unique focus on spiritual growth. It is a tool that helps us to shape the path between our relationships with ourselves and one another, and the path in our relationship with God.

The book "The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery" (Cron/Stabile) as our guide during this six-session series.
