The Ripple Effects of Rising Grocery Costs | | |
Friends:
Many of us have felt it every time we walk through the grocery store. Since 2019, the cost of food at home has increased by approximately 33%. This is the largest rise in grocery prices in nearly 50 years. By comparison, prices increased just 6.4% during the previous seven years.
For many families in our community, those higher grocery bills mean difficult choices. When more of the household budget is spent putting food on the table, there is often less available for rent, utilities, clothing, medications, and other essentials. As a result, more of our neighbors are turning to IAM not only for nutritious food, but also for the support that helps them remain safe, healthy, and securely housed.
All of us at IAM are grateful for your faithful generosity. Because you choose to care for your neighbors, families facing difficult circumstances are finding hope, stability, and the reassurance that they are not alone. Together, we are strengthening our community - one neighbor, one family, and one act of compassion at a time.
Gratefully,
Matt Hutcherson
IAM Executive Director

Back-to-School Blessings
August 3rd - 21st
| | |
Every child deserves to begin the school year with confidence. Through Back-to-School Blessings, IAM is helping children in kindergarten through 5th grade head back to class with clothing, shoes, new socks, and underwear.
The program runs August 3–21 at IAM's offices, 310 Freeman Street, giving local families the support they need to start the new school year with hope and dignity.
Together, we're helping our youngest neighbors put their best foot forward.
| | WNC Bridge Foundation Invests in Our Neighbors | | |
IAM is grateful to the WNC Bridge Foundation for a generous $50,000 grant that will help Henderson County households facing crisis with food, rental assistance, and utility support.
As the cost of everyday necessities continues to rise, more families are finding it difficult to make ends meet. This funding will allow IAM to provide critical assistance to an estimated 245 local households, helping neighbors keep food on the table, remain safely housed, and maintain essential utilities during challenging times.
We are thankful for the WNC Bridge Foundation's partnership and shared commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of our community. Together, we are helping ensure that hope and practical support are available when our neighbors need them most.
| | A Visit to Veterans Healing Farm | | |
We recently had the privilege of touring Veterans Healing Farm and seeing firsthand the remarkable difference they are making in the lives of veterans and their families throughout Western North Carolina. Their mission is simple yet profound: cultivating healing through nature, connection, and purpose to enhance the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of those who have served our country.
Our visit was made even more special when Maddie and Brendan stopped by IAM with a generous donation of fresh produce and beautiful flowers for our neighbors. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and for partners like Veterans Healing Farm who are helping cultivate a healthier, more compassionate community. Thank you for all you do!
| | Thank You for Your Support! | | |
IAM is grateful to the Duke Energy Foundation for its generous $25,000 grant supporting emergency rental and mortgage assistance for senior adults in our community. For older neighbors facing unexpected financial hardships, this assistance can mean the difference between remaining safely housed and facing housing instability. We appreciate the Duke Energy Foundation's investment in helping seniors remain secure, independent, and at home.

A heartfelt thank you to the Knights of Columbus and the congregation of Immaculate Conception! Their recent food drive collected more than 2,500 pounds of food for IAM - just one example of their steadfast commitment to serving our neighbors. Their generosity is a beautiful reflection of faith in action, and every pound donated helps nourish families in our community. We are truly grateful for your partnership.

Our deepest thanks to Biltmore Church Hendersonville for their incredible support of IAM. From donating backpacks for our Back-to-School Blessings program to treating our staff to lunch and providing a concession trailer for the Healthy Heroes Kids Carnival, their generosity has blessed both our neighbors and our team. We are grateful for your partnership!
