Our Winter Crafts Fair is this week!

Here's how you can help!

Bake, Bake, Bake! We need everyone to put on their aprons! Please bring your baked goods (ideally, individually wrapped with listed ingredients) to the kindergarten kitchen after school Friday. If you need to bring them in the morning please bring them to the lower school office.

Please sign up to volunteer for a slot at the fair!

if you are able to walk or carpool that will help with parking. If you can park a bit of a distance and walk, that will allow others with mobility issues to park close to the school.

if you have a card table to lend please let me know ASAP

We expect this to be a magical event! After the lovely, adults-only event on Friday night from 7-9, we will have the following activities scheduled on Saturday

from 10-4:

*Guided woodworking session in the woodwork room on the

bottom floor: 11:00-12:30 & 12:30-2:00; 10 students each

session 10 years and up welcome; $10

*Children's craft activities upstairs in the 5th grade room:

10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30; 10 students each session; $3

*Puppet Show, "George and his Lantern" in the upper play

yard under the tent: 10:30 & 11:30; $3

*Create a nature garden, "Earth~Air~Fire~Water" on the lower

playground: ongoing; $5

Note: The fair will be happening both outdoors and on all three levels in the school building at 98 S. Lincoln St. Due to Covid restrictions, we are asking everyone to wear masks indoors and we will have sign up sheets for the children's crafts and woodworking workshops (tickets will be sold for both these activities)

The Lantern Walk

We had a perfect evening for our Lantern Walk last Wednesday! Gathering near dusk and walking in the dark with only the flame from their own lanterns to lead the way was an enchanting experience for the younger grades.

Thank you to all of the volunteers that made it possible--from the puppeteers, the lantern lighters and fire tender, to the fairy house makers and the clean-up crew! This magical evening left a lasting impression on us all.

Parent Council Corner

The Gathering Waters Charter Parent Council is dedicated to being a resource for parent voices in the Gathering Waters Community. Our focus is on volunteerism, open communication, and providing a welcoming space for all parents.

The Parent Council met Thursday and shared their experiences of the First Grade curriculum podcast from Waldorfy. Setting aside time for self-education about the Waldorf curriculum has been a wonderful experience of connection and shared interest. Catching glimpses of the ways the curriculum intersects through the course of the education of our children has been a helpful way to learn more about this new school that we have all chosen.

Join us at our next meeting on December 9 where we will set aside time to talk about the Second Grade Curriculum and work toward more community building activities!

Announcements and Upcoming Events

9th Grade Parent Evening: Monday, 11/15 at 6:30

6th Grade Parent Evening: Tuesday, 11/16 at the Lower School. It is imperative that ALL 6th graders bring warm shoes, outerwear, a hat and gloves as they will be outside completing their community service for the Craft Fair during part of the evening. If at all possible, please have your student bring a functional headlamp or flashlight as well.

7th Grade Parent Evening: Wednesday, 11/17 at 6:30

5th Grade Parent Evening: Thursday, 11/18 at 6:30

REMINDER: Wednesday, 11/24, 12:30 dismissal

GW School Board

The school board meetings of Gathering Waters Chartered Public School are held on the second Saturday of every month from 9-11 a.m. in the Lower School (98 S. Lincoln St.) Auditorium. A public comment period is held at the end of each meeting for comments pertaining to items on the agenda. Masks are currently required.
