Switching to Every Two Weeks

Now that Summer Track is over, we are going to post this newsletter every other week. Or whenever there's a lot to communicate.

So, the next edition will be September 19th.

Special #BRUN This Wednesday

This week, we are going to hold a practice run of the South Nyack 7.8-miler course in conjunction with our regular Bridge Run. If you signed up for the Virtual race option, this is a great opportunity to run the distance with some company.  The regular #BRUN will still take place for those who aren't going that far.

  • Virtual 7.8-Miler:  Meet at the Gazebo in Franklin Street Park, 92 Depot Place ready to set off at 7:25 PM.
  • Regular #BRUN: Meet at the usual location, 282 S. Broadway and join the virtual runners as they pass on the Esposito Trail at 7:30 PM

South Nyack 7.8-Miler

This year's race across the bridge on Sunday 11th is making history even as it reflects history. There's still a few slots left, so if you were waiting to check the weather forecast, it's not yet too late to register

We are doing well with volunteers, but could use some people who are not running the race to help set up the refreshments and to marshal the intersections for the 1/4 mile south of the finish. You can sign up on the race website, or send an e-mail to [email protected]

September Club Meeting

After a busy Summer, there's a lot to catch up on during our next Club Meeting at Growler and Gill, 7:00 on Monday 12th. We will have check presentations for the Fortune, Hook and WDF races. And Nicole Muriel from PivOTal Performance will talk about Pelvic Floor exercises for runners.

We are testing out the new TicketSignUp platform, so please help us estimate the amount of snacks to order by using the RSVP link below. It's still free!

That's a Wrap for Summer Track

Rockland Road Runners Summer Track program ended last week with an ice-cream social after the last workout.

Many thanks to Coaches Ray Kondracki and Jamie Kempton.  A special shout-out to the always-inspiring STAC Athletes who demonstrated the drills with effortless grace, set the pace with their gazelle-like strides and helped to keep score.

So many highlights this year! There were the two time trials at Tallman that bookended our season and the Prediction Mile. In between, we had the Perkins Run, almost cancelled, but ultimately some hardy souls made it to the top of the mountain in a slight drizzle. And the Bruce Yang Memorial Scholarship presentation to Madison and Makayla. Great to see Bruce's son Timothy at many of our workouts. And who can forget Bryan Keller's lifetime mile PR on a sultry evening, aided by STAC pacers, Jack and Kieran.

If you want to get a sense of what Summer Track is all about, check out this short video recap on YouTube.
