Rallies
Our next Rally is in Hoodsport, Washington, and Debbie and I are really looking forward to this one! It looks like Dale and Mary Frank have put together a terrific agenda for those who’ve signed up for it. Since it’s quite a distance from where we live in Mission Viejo, we usually make it more fun by visiting our relatives and friends in Northern California and Oregon along the way.
Our Annual Rally this year will be in Wickenburg, Arizona, hosted by Mary Coleman, at the Desert Cypress Mobile/RV Park October 5th. The agenda looks packed with great activities! On Thursday, the first excursion will be the Vulture Ghost Town and Mine Tour, and on Friday we’ll do the Legends and Ghost Tour of Wickenburg. Both should be a lot of fun! Mary will need volunteers to drive the vans.

The latest and greatest current Chinook RV Club PDF Directory July 2022 has been published in pdf format at the Chinook RV Club Google Drive. The link to the drive is: https://bit.ly/2Yf5mzw. As always, please check your information and let me know if anything needs changing or updating. I still plan to publish a paper directory and mail it out to each member, but life keeps slowing me down and keeping me from getting all the things done I need to do! So let's just say "Coming Soon..."
I actually have received the first renewal for 2022-2023! So if you are obsessive compulsive and want to get that chore behind you early, send your check for $35 to me made out to the Chinook RV Club. Address to Dave Shehane, 2280 Country Ln, Auburn, CA 95603.
While you are browsing the club Google Drive, do take a moment and check out the club photo directory. If you find yourself listed without any photos, or not listed at all, send me some photos! We would love to have photos of all members and their rigs! Please excuse the pagination of the photo directory as it keeps changing with the addition of photos as they are received. One photo will do if you can get you and your partner in a view with your coach in the background, but one of the coach and one of your group would be perfect.

The Glen Ayr Hood Canal Waterfront Resort offers cottages, townhouses, motel rooms, and 36 RV Sites. Over 700 feet on private beach with boat moorage. The RV park offers a perfect place to relax and enjoy a nice BBQ or just watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset. All sites have full hook-ups with electric, water, septic and cable TV. Each has a picnic table and plenty of parking. Guest laundry and showers nearby. Maximum 6 guests per site, no tent camping. Pets welcome on leash. The grounds at Glen Ayr offer trails, lawn areas, covered picnic dining area in the gazebo, BBQs, creek, dock and beach access. Whatever your pleasure, you're sure to find it here in this beautiful natural setting, overlooking Hood Canal. |

Mary and I are inviting you to the Rally August 18-21, 2022 in beautiful Washington State at the Glen Ayr Hood Canal Waterfront Resort in Hoodsport, WA.
August is a great time to go camping in Western Washington, as we have less rain and more sunshine with moderate temperatures. The Resort is right across the road from beautiful Puget Sound waterway.

There are several Wineries in Hoodsport and maybe some of us can go for a wine tasting party on Saturday.

LOCATION: Glen Ayr Hood Canal Waterfront Resort, 25381 US 101, Hoodsport, WA 98548

SITES RESERVED: 19 filled, but you could ask to be put on a waiting list, in case there are any cancellations in the park.
RESERVATIONS: Call Lynette or Stephanie at Glen Ayr Resort, 360-877-9522. Tell them that you're with the Chinook RV Club and that Dale Frank is the Wagonmaster. Please let Dale know if you're able to make a reservation.
DEADLINE: July 18, 2022
DEPOSIT: There are five 30/50 Amp Sites (four of which are Deluxe Creekside Sites) at $50 per night, and the remaining 30 Amp Standard Sites are $40 per night. A first night's deposit will be taken by the resort upon reservation.
RALLY COST: To help cover the rental of the clubhouse and gazebo, please be prepared to pay $15 per coach (cash or check) to your rally hosts Dale and Mary Frank.
BALANCE DUE TO RESORT: When you check in, you will pay for the remaining two nights (less a 15% group discount, plus tax) using cash or credit card.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations are subject to a minimum $10.00 cancellation fee. In addition, Cancellations made within 72 hours of scheduled check-in are subject to a penalty equal to one (1) days reservation fee. Please contact the resort for Cancellations or to make any Changes to your Reservation.
RV CHECK-IN: No earlier than 1:00 pm
ACTIVITIES:

Thursday, 8-18: Meet & Greet 5:00 p.m. at the Club House, sub sandwiches, with ham and turkey and you can complete with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickles, and condiments to top it off, there will also be chips, and cookies. Please bring your plates, utensils, and wine glasses.

Friday. 8-19: 9:00a.m. Sweet Breads, and Rolls; 10:00 a.m. Tech Talk in Club House. RV Hopping to check out others junk and maybe your treasure, so check out what you may want to get rid of, but someone else needs. At 4:30 Happy Hour and Visiting. At 6:00 Pig and Turkey Roast Potluck dinner. Location TBD.

Saturday 8-20: Free day. There are several wineries in Hoodsport, Casino, and some little shops. Some visiting, games and relaxing. At 4:30 group picture at the Gazebo, followed by Happy Hour and Leftover Potluck Dinner.

Sunday 8-21: Check-Out is by 12:00. Dale and I want to thank all of you for coming and all the help that was given. Have safe travels home, and hope to see you at the next big Rally.

Mary Coleman has done a wonderful job planning our 18th Annual Rally, where we will not only enjoy a CATERED DINNER FROM DILLONS BBQ, have our annual business meeting and elections, but also enjoy excursions to the VULTURE GHOST TOWN & MINE TOUR and the LEGENDS AND GHOST TOUR OF WICKENBURG.

Branson is an Ozark town in southwest Missouri known as a family vacation destination. Its 76 Country Boulevard is famously lined with theaters, which once hosted mostly country music performers but today present diverse entertainment. Also along the strip are the Marvel Cave, the Wild West-style Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction and Silver Dollar City, an 1800s-themed amusement park with live music.

~~~ HOMECOMING MINI RALLY #3 ~~~

In 2003 the club had its Homecoming Rally that included a tour of the Chinook RV plant and an exclusive barbeque with Gary Lukehart, the founder and then-owner of Trail Wagons Inc., the manufacturer of the Chinook motorhome.
In 2019 Marty and Tom Dittmar put together a second Homecoming Rally on Gary and Mary Lukehart's historic 153 acre Running Springs Ranch in Naches, Washington, and in 2023 we're going to do it again! Check out the write-up in the August 2019 Newsletter: https://conta.cc/3cpCCeo.
The Lukehart ranch is not an RV Park, but a unique event center that borders the Naches River. As such, this piece of the Old West has neither hook-ups nor a dump station, so this will definitely be DRY CAMPING. Dogs are welcome.

Most all members of the club are members of the site as well but there are many that are not part of the club. Our Facebook Page is private and hidden, so if you haven't already joined, there's a little process you need to follow:
- If a club member wants to join our club's FB page they must first be signed up with Facebook.
- I can only send invitations to FB Friends, so send me a friend request.
- I will then issue an invitation to the club's FB page, which the member must accept to complete the process.
- Then, I will “unfriend” the member in my personal FB account. Please do not take this as a slight! Our friendship will still exist at the Chinook RV Club page, but there is no telling if our social media preferences align, and I do not want to take a chance that our individual preferences would in any way endanger our Chinook related relationship!

PURPOSE: This Club (Chinook RV Club) exists to promote social, recreational & informational exchange activities that provide for the enjoyment and pleasurable use of all its members. Our club functions primarily in the western and central US, although it is open to qualified members from the Eastern club (Chinook Camping Club).
DUES: Our dues are $35.00/year. Our fiscal and membership year is October 1 through September 30. Prompt payment not only helps Treasurer in budgeting expenses, but also helps the V.P. Membership to produce our Membership Directory. Please advise V.P. Membership of any changes in e-mail and mailing addresses.
