IMPORTANT: Heilicher Parent Forum

Dear Heilicher Parents:

I would like to invite you to a Town Hall on Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m., where I will frame shared goals for the coming weeks and what actions we can take, as a community, to maximize our chances of returning to in-person school on January 4. I will present for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and take questions for another 20 to 30 minutes.

To participate, please use this Zoom link

I strongly encourage at least one parent to attend from each household.

While there are variables we cannot control that could limit our ability to get all students back into the school building full time, there are some measures we can take over the coming weeks that may help our chances of our full return to in-person learning and the Total Distance Learning Program.

Thank you for your continued patience and commitment to Heilicher.

TIME SENSITIVE: Register Your Child for Heilicher Community Connections!

Dear Heilicher Families,

Although we have shifted to distance learning, we felt it was beneficial to facilitate some specific opportunities for our students to gather, in-person, in a COVID-safe way, in order to support their social-emotional growth. We are very excited to announce that Heilicher's Community Connections program will be starting this Monday, December 7

Heilicher's Community Connections program is an optional and safe opportunity for students to gather with their classmates, in-person, weekly during distance learning.* Programming will be approximately 1.5 hours in length, and will take place outdoors as much as possible. Each grade level will have a designated window of time to return to Heilicher for outdoor activities, social interaction, and/or arts-and-crafts with their peers. The program will be staffed by me and our Heilicher substitute teachers - Katherine Carlson, Dan Geller, and Jeremy Savran.

Thoughtful planning has been put into each Community Connections activity so as to maintain at least six feet of distance between participants, and masks will be required at all times. Any indoor programming will be in groups of ten or fewer, and will be held in large, well-ventilated spaces such as the Dining Room or the Manny Fingerhut Auditorium. Frequent hand washing will be practiced whenever indoors.

Please complete the form LINKED HERE if your student will be attending their grade level's Community Connections programming the week of December 7. The times for each grade are listed in this form. Families should complete one form per student. Form submission will be accepted up to 4 hours in advance of the day's programming. Students will not be permitted to drop-in on programming without prior form submission, nor will they be allowed to attend if their form was submitted within four hours of the program start-time. Students must attend for the full, designated time block.

A new form will be sent in the next ROAR to register for the week of December 14.

Please contact me at with any questions.

Evelyn Sadlowski

*Grades 7 and 8 will alternate weeks. See schedule in the registration form for details.

School Library Remains Open!

We know how important library books are to our students. The following plan will be in place until Winter Break to continue library service.

Students can continue to request books by using the Heilicher Library website using the login information given to them by their teachers.

Each week there will be two times available for picking up/returning library books:

Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm
Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 am

Requests must be placed by 4:00 p.m. the Friday before to be available for pickup on Tuesday, and by 12:00 p.m. on the Tuesday before to be available for pickup on Thursday. Please remember that students in Grades 1-2 may check out 2 books at a time and all other grades may check out 3 books at a time.

To pick up books, please write your student's name in large bold print and put it in your passenger side window. Pull up to the North Entrance (regular drop-off/pick-up location) during these two weekly time frames, and your books will be brought out to you. You may also return books at these times.

We look forward to bringing books to you soon!
