Heilicher middle school students participate in special interest clubs as part of their school week. On Tuesday, the cooking club whipped up cookies over Zoom. All you need for this recipe is a box of cake mix, eggs, and oil. Try these out at home!

Staffing Announcement: Steve Mintz

We wanted to share that Steve Mintz has accepted a new position as the
Director of Programming for the Minnesota Jewish Community Centers. He will be leaving Heilicher at the end of Minimester 4 (January 22). Mr. Mintz has been an accomplished middle school science teacher, a successful teacher leader, middle school advisor, elective and play coordinator, and guitar player extraordinaire, in addition to countless other tasks large and small.

Mr. Mintz has expressed his deep appreciation to our community for their support as his family deals with the recent tragic death of his brother. He is excited to remain a part of this community in his new role at the JCC.

We wish Mr. Mintz luck and offer deep gratitude for all he has done for our school.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Food Drive
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is designated as a national day of service. This year our service projects will look different since we can't all gather and do them together. However, we can still make a difference. Food banks are very low on food. We can each put aside two items for the food shelf each week until MLK Day on Monday, January 18. That way, we'll each have a bag ready to donate that week.

Heilicher will have collection bins at school for food donations the week of January 18. You also are welcome to bring your donations directly to PRISM (1220 Zane Ave N, Golden Valley, MN 55422) or to a food shelf of your choice.

Heilicher's curriculum revolves around ten core values. What core value do you think of when we talk about donating to a food?

Condolences to Heilicher staff member Hadassa Slager and her family on the passing of Hadassa's father, Levi Velleman.

Condolences to Heilicher staff member Steve Mintz and his family on the passing of Steve's brother, Jeff Mintz.

Condolences to Ron and Shira Krebs and their children Yonit, Dahlia, Avital and Eytan on the passing of their father and grandfather, Leon Krebs.
