Heilicher Celebrates Hanukah
Hanukah Candles
H anukah this year begins on the evening of Sunday, December 2 , and lasts eight days. Read more about the holiday.
Celebrating together: Please join us for a community candle lighting December 3-6 (Monday through Thursday) at 3:15 p.m. in front of the Heilicher office. Songs will be sung! Candles will be lit!
New student program this year: The Hanukah Exploratorium. Throughout this week and next, each grade is learning about the holiday of Hanukah, ranging from songs, to rituals, to rabbinic texts.
On Friday, December 7, students will participate in a Hanukah Exploratorium, creating 'Handmade Midrash ' (artistic interpretations) with with their multi-grade Friday lunch table ( mishpahah /family). Combining art, engineering, and Jewish knowledge, this STEAM-y activity will solidify students' learning in a fun, engaging, and communal fashion.

Lower School Electives Registration - Grades 1-5
 
Second trimester Lower School electives begin December 14 and run through March 1. Students in Grades 1-5 can choose from a variety of fun activities and must fill out an elective form . Kindergartners will be participating in chess and do not need to register.
 
Please fill out the  Trimester Two Lower School Elective Form by  Thursday, December 6 to register for your elective. Questions? Contact  Maia Poling  or  Hector Sztainer.

First Trimester Library Books Due Tomorrow

All library books checked out September through November 16 are due back tomorrow  Friday, November 30 . Please remind your child to return completed books and renew those still being read. Thank you! 


Picture Retake Day is Thursday, December 6
 
If you are interested in having your child(ren)'s school picture redone, please send back your current photo package with your student on Thursday, December 6. Students will need to give their photos to the Lifetouch photographer. If you are interested in ordering a new, or different package, online ordering is available.
After-School Athletics Cancellation 
For Tuesday, December 11

K-2 Soccer Families and 7-8 Basketball families: Due to a mandatory staff safety training, we will be cancelling after-school athletic activities on Tuesday, December 11. If you need to arrange for alternative after-school care, HaBonim will be available at no cost to families previously enrolled in Tuesday athletic activities. Please email Evelyn Sadlowski ASAP as space is limited. Tuesday JCC swimming lessons and 3-6 Lego Robotics will continue as usual. 
Kidcreate Studio Art Classes: Registration Open!

Registration is now open for Mess To The Max (Grades K-2) Get excited for plaster painting, gooey gunk sculpting, paper mache puppet designing, and crazy paint flinging! These projects are so messy your parents would never let you make them at home.

Classes run: Mondays 3:30-4:30 p.m.,  January 7-February 11, 2019

Grade 3 Field Trip to Good Shepherd Catholic School
 
Third graders will be visiting Good Shepherd Catholic School in Golden Valley to share and learn about each other's winter holiday traditions. We will travel by bus for this field trip.
