Staff Appreciation Meal

Wednesday, February 22

Join the PSO in supporting our staff for February's Staff Appreciation Meal! Anything you can contribute is needed and appreciated!
If your child is missing an item, stop by our Lost and Found event after school in the Young Hearts Parking Lot on the 23rd! You will be able to look through the items that have been left at the school and see if any of them belong to you!
Nurse Appreciation Day

We are celebrating our school nurse, Ms. Lopez, on Friday, February 24th. We want to decorate her office with notes and pictures to thank her for all she does for the students. Keep an eye out for a handout coming home. Parents, feel free to write notes to the school nurse letting her know how much you appreciate her as well. Also, we will be collecting supplies for the nurse to use for our students and have assigned suggested items to each grade level. Notes can be dropped off into a box in the office starting now through Friday, February 24st. Please bring supplies for the nurse on Friday, February 24st.
Art Festival

We are so excited about our Art Festival. It is going to take place on March 8th from 5pm-7pm. All artworks will be displayed on the hallways. There will be three award winners for each grade level. However, the fun doesn’t stop there. At 5pm Art battle will take place. Scholars from 3rd – 5th grade can participate. They will have 20min to finish a landscape in front of the audience, using their own art supplies. We will provide the paper only. The number is limited, 30 scholars can participate only. It will be first come first serve. Parents need to send an email to Mr. Philabaum and Mrs. Jaha, to register their child for participation. We will have a local celebrity Artist to be the judge and announce the winner. We are accepting registration emails until March 3rd.
Scholars can use any supplies of their choice, such as crayons, watercolors, pastels, oil pastels, pencil, markers etc.
Please contact Ms. Jaha if you have any questions.

Uniform Expectations: Jewelry, Makeup, Sweaters, and Jackets

We know there are many aspects to our dress code and uniform. Aces Athletics

Amateur Aces Training

Amateur Aces Athletics had its final day of the soccer session on Wednesday. The character trait discussed at the beginning of the session was volunteering. We were then able to publicly thank our Aces volunteers for their hard work this session. The kids were able to work some more on their soccer skills and then scrimmage some more. It has been a privilege and an honor to work with the Archway scholars alongside the Prep volunteers. With soccer ending it is now a great time to sign up for our final AAT session of the 22-23 school year. We are offering an 8 week volleyball session starting March 1st for 1st – 5th grade. Just like our previous sessions it will be run by Aces coaches with the help of some of our Aces volleyball players.
The Last AAT Session for the school year is now open!!

We have now opened registration for our Spring AAT session, volleyball! This will run for 8 weeks starting on March 1st.
If you are interested in having your scholar attend our upcoming volleyball session, you can sign up in the payment portal at https://roosevelt.greatheartsamerica.org/ in the “Amateur Aces Volleyball Training” tab.
Please contact the Athletic Director Carl Wunsch at cwunsch@greatheartsroosevelt.org if you have any questions.

Lunch Room Volunteer Training

Please consider getting involved in serving lunch to our scholars! Second semester volunteer slots to serve lunch will be opening soon. Don't miss the opportunity to get trained before then. Volunteers will be credited $5 per shift on their MyHotLunchBox accounts. All volunteers MUST BE RAPTOR cleared.

Donate to the Lunchroom

Our students go through many spoons, forks, and napkins each lunch period. In order to keep these items stocked, we rely on donations to the lunchroom. Please consider sending in an item or two to help! Just label the item "PSO Lunchroom" and send it in with your scholar.

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

As part of the Great Hearts Roosevelt family, every single one of you are members of the PSO! There will be many opportunities throughout the year to offer your time and talent to the community.

If you are interesting in volunteering and supporting our school on campus in any way, all families must submit their application through our secure "Raptor" system. The link to this can be found here: https://www.greatheartsamerica.org/volunteer/. This applies even to families who already have a fingerprint clearance card.

Raptor Clearance is a quick and easy background check that takes only a few minutes and costs $5. You will know within a few days if it has been approved.

If you would like information on our PSO, aspects of available volunteer options or to just add your name to our volunteer interest list please email our PSO President at PSOpresident@greatheartsroosevelt.org.

Spalding Materials

If you have not yet purchased your child's Spalding supplies, the PSO has them for sale!

Please email PSOPresident@greatheartsroosevelt.org with your child's name, grade and class section. PSO will invoice you and upon payment your child's items will be delivered to their classroom.
Lost and Found Program

If your child has misplaced any items at school, please contact Brittany Smeal at lostandfoundarpso@gmail.com

Register for Athenaeum, the Great Hearts After School Program

After-School Athenaeum is focused on the liberal arts and promotes learning by providing students dedicated homework time in addition to a diverse array of culturally enriching, academically oriented activities beyond the classroom. Our activities and lessons are aimed at improving students’ scholastic performance by reinforcing the lessons, virtues and curriculum of the classroom.

But it’s not all academics! Athenaeum scholars also enjoy time for recreation, games, socializing and just plain fun. Athenaeum runs daily from the dismissal bell (even on early release and half-days) until 6:00 p.m. Flexible and affordable options are available to fit any family’s after-school needs.
