Late Autumn Edition - November 2021
Welcome to the Roundhouse Workshop!
Q & A
What do we do? We design and build tow-able reproduction railroad cars for personal and commercial use.
What could you do with a caboose of your own? Our railroad car trailers can be used as tiny houses, AirBnB, recording studios, workshops, offices, retail space and so much more.*
Who are we? A family business headed by a guy who has never stopped wanting to play trains and has decades of experience in construction and railroading.
Where are we? Our workshop is in beautiful New Hampshire, but we ship anywhere.

Feeling Festive!
Starry Starry Weekend ~ December 3,4, & 5th
Contoocook, New Hampshire
Starry Starry Weekend will be quite the event this year! We have teamed up with the Contoocook Chamber of Commerce, Concord Craft Brewery and local artisans to create a festive central meeting place, shopping area, and gorgeous photo backdrop. The Roundhouse Workshop is bringing three of our railcars to the village center during the town's biggest shopping and community event of the year.

  1. Tour Lucy the Caboose ~ our roll-away cabin
  2. Shop inside the Caboose Caty Greene ~ featuring local artisans
  3. Indulge in a local beer in the Boxcar Pub ~ yes, you read that correctly. For the first time, our taps will be flowing, Saturday 4-8pm.

We will be set up behind the historic Contoocook Boston & Maine Depot, next to the Riverway Association's railroad section house and the town gazebo (live music, tree lighting and Mrs. Claus and special guest!). Nearby is the famous Contoocook Railroad Covered Bridge. Our Boxcar will be connected to a beer garden. There will be hot cocoa, treats, warm fires and fine artists in the Depot. Festivities, food and shopping area also throughout the villages of Contoocook and Hopkinton for the weekend. More details here.
Lucy the Caboose at Newburyport, MA, Annual Holiday House Tour,
Saturday December 12
The fun continues for those in the Boston area with the Newburyport House Tour. Weather permitting, Lucy the Caboose will be on display at the event. Check out the details here.
Past event: Vintage Bazaar New England ~ October
We had a fantastic time at the Harvest edition of the Vintage Bazaar in Holderness, NH - surrounded by antiques, fine crafts, live music and food. It was the first time we had three railcars on display - and a whole crew to represent the Workshop. We had inspiring conversations with some great folks who toured the cars. Lucy seemed to be the favorite, though people spent quite a bit of time chatting in the Boxcar. Which is your favorite?
Taking Orders Now
Please let us know how we can outfit your custom Classic American Boxcar or Bobber Caboose. Each of our off-track rolling stock is built on a 20-30' trailer bed in our workshop. They are custom built-to-last, using timber frame joinery, steel reinforcements and quality materials all around. Personalized design consultation and renderings are included in the price.
Visit our website for more illustrations and specifications of our products. Arrange a visit to see a sample Boxcar or Caboose in person.
For Rent, Lease or Sale
We have three wonderful pieces of equipment available right now. Feedback had shown time and again that you love these cars, but we also understand that you may not need them all the time or have the budget to own them outright. Starting in the Spring, we will be booking rentals. Perhaps you have an event or gathering that requires additional guest quarters. Or perhaps you are headed to a trade show with your wares, victuals, or services and want the crowds to notice you in a sea of white tents and bland aluminum trailers. We are open to short term or long term rentals -- working from home just for a few months? Need to bring in help for your busy season? Hosting a wedding on your property? Give us a call.
*Railroad Industry
If you are involved with an operating railroad and are looking for 3' or smaller reproduction railroad cars, we can do that, too! All of our builds can be specifically built for rail applications. They are as robust as their 19th century predecessors - timber framed and reinforced with steel rods. Call for more information.
