Winter is Upon Us and the GEMS Team
Have Thrived in the Extremes
Well, it appears winter has well and truly arrived!

Our operations team managed the 2019 Stormwater Victoria Conference last week in Marysville, Victoria, experiencing face freezing lows of 5 degrees. Very little green could be seen under a blanket of snow and the team may have wished they had worn their ski gear for this one!

Whether hosting an event in the heat of Darwin or freezing temperatures of Australia's highlands, we are always up for the challenge!
Venue Spotlight
Vibe Hotel Marysville - Victoria

From the Gold Coast sunshine to the snowfields of Victoria - Having just enjoyed the Queensland sunshine at the 2019 AusCERT Cyber Security Conference held at the Marriott Surfers Paradise from the 28 th – 31 st May, our operations team headed off to Marysville in Victoria for the 2019 Stormwater Victoria Conference. The Conference was held at the Vibe Hotel from the 3 rd – 5 th June and we were greeted with an early snowfall.

Having been devastated by the Black Saturday fires in 2009, the town of Marysville has been rebuilt and the Vibe Conference Centre is a fantastic venue for conferences up to 250 delegates.

Stunning food, state of the art equipment and charming surroundings make this venue a superb venue for conferencing. For our Conference Coordinator, Jess Newmarch, it was also her first chance to experience snow in Australia, which was a highlight of the job. If you are planning a regional event in Victoria, keep this wonderful property in mind.

Benefits of Professional Development – Why We Need To Stay Up To Date

Much like our Association clients do for their members, we place great importance on continuing professional development for all employees at GEMS Event Management Australia. Exposing our team to various continuing professional development opportunities, whether it’s accredited training, networking, u pskilling or venue and supplier familiarisation, helps us stay ahead of the game in our industry and in turn offer the best service and knowledge to our clients.

Earlier this year, our Managing Director, Julie McGraw and National Operations Manager, Peta Webster attended the Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) National Conference in Brisbane, Queensland. The MEA National Conference program was structured around 6 key streams - Future Leaders, Sales and Marketing, Best Practice Case Studies, Event Management, Event Business and Technology.

Each of these areas provided numerous insights and made us more aware of the changing trends and directions in our profession as a Professional Conference Organiser. Particularly with the rise in integration of technology, the pace of change in the business events space is faster than it’s ever been.

We also understand the importance of making professional development fun and engaging when we deliver a Conference, so we ensure that through the events we attend, we are on the look out for inspiration to re-energize our creativity and translate it into something we can deliver for our clients.

If you’re interested in introducing some new elements to your Conference or Event, or turning your conference format completely on its head, we are armed with plenty of innovations and case studies to implement for you!

EventsAir Event App

The EventsAIR Native Attendee App allows you to communicate effectively with your participants and allows each attendee the opportunity to take charge of their own schedule and industry connections while at the event.

The Attendee App can be natively installed on any iOS or Android device as well as on other smart phone platforms. When attendees load the app onto their mobile phone or tablet, they can find all of the event information they need, including their personal daily schedules, event program, session abstracts, interactive live session polling and Q&A capabilities. They can also search for fellow attendees and message one another.

Through the use of the App, exhibitors now have an easy way to track and manage their leads from the event. With many more exciting functionalities, your options are endless for the ways in which you can integrate App technology into your event. Let us know if you would like to explore the use of an App at your next event.
