The biggest licensing campaign in naturopathic history is underway right NOW! But it will not happen without massive participation, including YOURS. And, yes, I mean YOUR participation. Michigan licensing has to happen legislatively in 2018! Are YOU on board?

This is Dennis Godby, ND, California- licensed practitioner, and the 2005 founder of the Sacramento Naturopathic Medical Center, and "The Run" - the 2011 coast to coast run from San Francisco to Bridgeport, CT in 2011.

Without the selflessness of Sally LaMont, ND, and her ND colleagues working for two decades to achieve licensure in 2003, I would not have been able to return to my hometown, Sacramento, California's Capital city. Moving back to CA 14 years ago has made all the difference in my professional life as a naturopathic doctor. I cannot imagine any other way at this point. I would like ALL ND students, and already practicing NDs, to have the same opportunity to serve patients in any state of their choosing. What do you think? Should ALL Americans have access to naturopathic medicine?

Despite the enormous health improvements of our patients, some "miraculous," 30 states remain unlicensed, and Naturopathic Medicine continues to be: "America's best kept secret." If you are not OK with that, and want to witness to the TRUTH of what you have seen and heard with your own eyes and ears with naturopathic medicine, please join pioneers, Emily Telfair, Amy Rothenberg, and many others across the country working passionately and courageously to achieve naturopathic licensure in the remaining 30 US states. The TRUTH must be told. I will not stay quiet. How about you? I hope you join us in this movement! For "evil flourishes when good people do nothing." This profession has given us, certainly our patients, so much! Arthur Schopenhauer once said: All TRUTH passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self- evident. Let's proclaim even louder what is "self-evident" to us, and soon, the world will catch on, despite incredible opposition.

Why should you or I care about state licensure efforts if we are already practicing successfully in a licensed state, and are successful in our practices?

LET ME COUNT THE WAYS...
As more and more states get licensed , public awareness of NDs will skyrocket, expanding our prospective patients by many times. M.L.K. said, “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.” Your license, in a licensed state, will NEVER have as much significance in your state, or any other state, until all or most states are licensed. 90% of the American people have never heard of an ND. This will change with licensure.
If YOU wanted to return to your unlicensed home state to practice, wouldn't you want your sister and brother NDs around the country to care and get involved? So many NDs, so many heroes and heroines, past and present, have sacrificed so much on the behalf of our profession, often against tremendous odds, but we can honor the trailblazer NDs, by working to ensure that all Americans, in ALL 50 states, have an opportunity to experience naturopathic medicine, of thriving, not merely surviving. 
NDs brave enough to practice in pre-licensed/unlicensed states are caught in the proverbial “Catch 22” situation. They need to work extremely hard for licensure, but they have few NDs in that state because they are not licensed, reducing the financial ability to fund a lobbyist.
Having gratitude for the naturopathic profession, you will seek to support others in their efforts.
Approximately 1/3 of the practicing NDs throughout the USA, are in just three metro areas: Portland, Seattle and Phoenix. NDs are in rare supply elsewhere, jeopardizing America’s health, which makes it more difficult for some NDs to be financially successful in such ND dense areas.
Naturopathic medicine is mostly unknown throughout the USA, and is not a national topic of conversation or well-publicized, like chiropractic or acupuncture, because 30 states are not licensed, including Michigan, and New York.

Michigan NEEDS HELP FROM OTHER CARING PEOPLE IN THE OTHER 49 STATES, and it is ripe for licensure NOW.

It must happen in 2018.

and support their efforts? THE next RUN to ENSURE Michigan licensure will be a 50 mile run from: Flint (Flint Farmer’s Market) to Lansing (Capital), October
2-3. What will you do and can you do to ENSURE that Michigan is the 21st licensed state to license NDs?

Although the naturopathic profession is extremely small, Gandhi said, the “minority leads the majority.” We have the opportunity, if we seize it, to be the foot soldiers for the TRUTH of naturopathic medicine and making it widely known and provide Americans, in every state, the right to experience naturopathic medicine, and thriving, not just surviving.

What you can do to help the run movement to attain licensure for all 50 states by 2022

Join the run steering committee; promote the run on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc); run with us; publicize; fundraise; email newsletter to your patients to ask them to contact their friends and family in pre-licensed states about upcoming events; contact your warm list about supporting the run and licensure, such as nutritional and lab companies who would benefit from all 50 states being licensed; discuss it within your naturopathic associations; notify everybody in your state about the run; be creative; and so many other ways you can help.

The Run ™ is here! The time is  NOW! Please join the Michigan Association of Naturopathic Physicians as we welcome  THE MiCHIGAN RUN FOR NATUROPATHIC LICENSURE: Michigan,  Flint to Lansing , 50 miles, October 1-3, 2018!  The biggest Naturopathic licensing campaign in our history is happening NOW! The mission: to attain licensure in ALL 50 states - but it will not happen without your participation. And, yes, I mean YOUR participation!

As you may be aware, the State of Michigan does not currently license naturopathic doctors (NDs), and NDs in Michigan are actively seeking licensure through state legislative efforts. Senate Bill 826 to license NDs passed the Michigan Senate in May 2018 and is currently pending in the House of Representatives. But  Michigan needs your help to move the bill forward!

Despite the overwhelming demand for naturopathic medicine in Michigan, the absence of state legislation prevents NDs from offering their full scope of naturopathic medical care. The goal of the Michigan Association of Naturopathic Physicians (MANP) is to  ensure that the citizens of Michigan have the freedom to choose naturopathic physicians for their healthcare needs.
