Dear Friends,
It has certainly been a busy spring as in person events have resumed and office spaces are a little less empty than the past year. As you may have seen in your inbox, the annual Crayfish Party, which we host together with Volvo Group, is finally back this September after two consecutive years of the event being cancelled. Very soon we will also release the tickets to our annual Golf Tournament, the SACC DC Open, stay tuned.
Another piece of exciting news is that we have a new Corporate member that have especially played a critical role in public health during the pandemic - Astra Zeneca. We are excited to welcome them to our community!
Earlier this month, IKEA hosted an exciting and engaging event at House of Sweden that the SACC DC trainees attended. "One Home One Planet" was the topic, and you can read more about it below.
As always, feel free to reach out to us if you would like us to highlight your business or have ideas about a certain topic for a virtual or in person program.
Finally, if you are in town on July 14, please come by Seqouia for the next Happy hour!

SACC DC Trainees Attend US One Home One Planet Conference 2022
|
On June 14-15, SACC-DC had the pleasure of attending an incredibly well-put-together and inspiring event: the One Home, One Planet US Conference 2022, hosted by SACC-DC Corporate member IKEA at the House of Sweden. The event spanned over two days filled with interactive workshops covering different topics on the challenges presented by climate change and social unsustainability, including but not limited to corporate activism, zero-emission delivery zones, and sustainable food accessibility. The workshops were interspersed with networking breaks as well as remarks from high-profile speakers such as the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, and the Swedish Ambassador to the U.S., Karin Olofsdotter.
The SACC-DC team wants to compliment IKEA for presenting an innovative approach to corporate event hosting where attendees of different backgrounds and professional experience joined forces in a friendly and open setting to address the pressing issue of environmental and social sustainability.
Thank you, and we look forward to attending future IKEA events!

SACC-USA, in collaboration with the Embassy of Sweden, hosted their event, Executive Forum, on June 2, with the theme "Navigating Turbulent Waters”. The event gathered global leaders from Swedish and American companies, politicians, and ministers from Sweden and the US to discuss and present new market solutions, groundbreaking technologies, and strategies to tackle the ongoing climate change.
In our January 2022 newsletter, we wrote about our member company SSAB’s revolutionizing innovation of fossil-free steel. One of the speakers at the SACC Executive Forum was the President of SSAB Americas, Charles Schmitt, who spoke about the importance of acting for a better future and what impact their groundbreaking innovation has on the environment.
Thank you SACC-USA for hosting and welcoming us to your prodigious event!
