A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Employee Holiday Brunch

"Each year, I tell you all 'Thank you,' and I hope you know that I'm sincere. Throughout the year, there are many things that happen which deserve praise, and they do not go unnoticed.

I challenged you at the beginning of the year that we were going to take the next step in being transformational in our community. A lot of times, education can become very transactional...In order to be transformational, we have to be good people. I want you all to know that, no matter what your job is at LBW, You. Are. Making. A. Difference!

People choose LBW because of who we are. The customer service we provide sets us apart from EVERYBODY! There's not one time that I'm worried about something that one of our faculty members didn't do for a student. We take every step and every measure to help students. And even when those students may fail, we bring them back, put them under our wing, and help them succeed in other ways.

Remember that you are making a difference. I just want you to know that I love you. I love what you do, and I love being a part of this institution. Keep being who we are. If we keep being good people and good for the people that we serve, then everything else will work out on its own."

Retirement

Debra Hudson | Administrative Assistant for Instructional Services + Dual Enrollment Liaison

On January 1, 2025, Mrs. Debra Hudson, Administrative Assistant for Instructional Services & Dual Enrollment Liaison, will retire after an incredible 21 years of dedicated service to LBW.

When asked about some of her fondest memories from her career at the College, Mrs. Hudson shared, "It is a toss-up between getting to work with some of the best people in the world and seeing students succeed and grow."

"One of my first experiences was career day and my colleagues were so eager to help! Those friendships have continued to grow, and I hold each one very dear. There have been many dual enrollment students who were given opportunities through the CTEDE grant that they may not have had otherwise, and it has made a huge difference for them. Being a small part of their success has been so rewarding!"

In retirement, Mrs. Hudson looks forward to spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, and indulging her love of reading. As she begins this exciting new chapter, she leaves her colleagues with a heartfelt reminder: β€œEnjoy life to the fullest. It goes by fast!”
