Retirements
Laura Elliott | Director of the Luverne Center
Laura Elliott will retire from the College effective April 1, after serving as a dedicated employee for 18 years.

"I love working with people and helping them achieve their goals," she said. "You've all been great to work with and I will miss you, but I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life and lots of new adventures!"

When asked about her fondest memory, she detailed how early in her career she was working with adult education and it was announced that the College would be opening a location in Luverne. "This meant a great deal to me, my community, and the students of Crenshaw county!"

A fond memory later in life she highlighted was "seeing my grandchildren getting to take classes here and get a great foundation for their college experience with wonderful instructors and a caring atmosphere."

"Working with instructors and staff," is what she has enjoyed most throughout her career. "They are my extended family," she added.
And, "working with students of all ages from 'Seniors in Motion', college students, ESL students, Adult Education students, and 'Kids College," she said. "It was a delight watching them continuing their education and achieving their goals and dreams!"
Michelle Goosby | Mathematics Instructor
Michelle Goosby retired the beginning of 2022 after completing 25 years at LBW.

Her employment history included working as a Mathematics Instructor part-time for two years at the former MacArthur Technical College and as the Success Center Director & Instructional Coordinator with Student Support Services for a year. She pursued a Masters Degree in Mathematics at Troy University and was subsequently hired as a full-time Mathematics Instructor. During her time at LBW she served as AEA President, National Technical Honor Society Advisor, and Honors Program Chair.

"My fondest memory [at LBW] was being featured as a soloist and meeting the guest speaker, Lt. Governor Lucy Baxley at a MacArthur Technical College Graduation," she said. "What made it extra special was sitting beside the guest speaker who paid me a high compliment on my performance."

When asked about her retirement plans, she replied, "Within the first six months of retirement, I plan to visit my children and grandchildren. I also plan to publish my third book."

In parting, she quoted β€œKeeping Eyes Focused On Student Need Is a Constant Effort. Fulfilling Student Need Is an Ever-Changing Mission.”
