Happy Mother's Day!

This Mother’s Day, we give thanks for the love, strength, and grace of the women who have nurtured and guided us in faith and in life.

Whether mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, or spiritual mentors, their care reflects God’s abiding love in our world.

We celebrate the countless ways they offer comfort, wisdom, and compassion, often in quiet and unseen ways.

May this day be filled with joy, gratitude, and cherished moments as we honor those who have shaped our lives.

Let us also hold in prayer those for whom this day may be tender, trusting that God’s love surrounds us all.

"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you." — Isaiah 66:13

Happy Mother’s Day!

Rogation Sunday

What is Rogation?

Rogation Sunday is the day when the Church has traditionally offered prayer for God’s

blessing on the fruits of the earth and the labors of those who produce our food.

The word “rogation” is from the Latin rogare, “to ask.”

Historically, the Rogation Days (the three days before Ascension Day) were a period of fasting and abstinence, beseeching God’s blessing on the crops for a bountiful harvest. Few of us today directly derive our livelihood from the production of food, yet it is good to be reminded of our dependence

upon those who do and our responsibility for the environment.

A prayer for Rogation Day is found on page 258 in our prayer book.

Please bring in any seeds or soil you would like to be blessed this Sunday.

Brotherhood of Saint Andrew

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew gathers on the second Sunday of each month.

There will not be a meeting this upcoming Sunday, May 10th in observance of Mother's Day.

The next scheduled meeting will occur on Sunday,

May Outreach Supporting Bloom with First Night Bags

Throughout the month of May, we are partnering with Bloom to support children entering foster care by collecting items for “First Night Bags.”

These bags are given to children who are often placed into care with little notice and few belongings, helping to bring comfort and dignity during a difficult transition.

We are collecting the following items to include in backpacks:

  • Toiletries (full-sized): toothbrushes & toothpaste, brush or comb, deodorant, bar of soap
  • Stuffed animals
  • Adult-sized socks
  • Activity books: word searches, puzzle books, and similar games

In addition, the ECW will be creating soft fleece blankets with cut and knotted edges, offering each child something cozy to hold onto.

We’ll share details soon for a hands-on day where you can join in making these blankets.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping us provide comfort, care, and a sense of belonging to children in need.

For additional details or any questions, please feel free to reach out to

Joyce Cannon.

St. Andrew's VBS 2026!

Our Vacation Bible School this year will be held in the Parish Hall starting Monday, June 15th, through Friday, June 19th, from 9:00am to 12:00pm each day for children ages 4 through 11.

The theme is Tropical Trek from Concordia Publishing House.

Please click the link below to view our website and register your child/children today!

I, Roland Myers, am greatly thankful to have a wonderful staff of talented and enthusiastic volunteers from our church. We can always use more, though, if you or someone you know is interested.

We encourage any of your children, grandchildren, or other children that you know to attend.

We had great fun last year and this year looks to be even better!

The Vestry

The Vestry meets every second Tuesday of the month.

The next Vestry meeting is scheduled for

Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00pm.

St. Andrew's New Website and Email Addresses

St. Andrew’s has launched a new website: standrewsptc.org.

We invite you to visit the site for parish news, service information, and upcoming events.

Please also note that parish email addresses now end in @standrewsptc.org.

Kindly update your contact lists so you can continue to reach clergy, staff, and vestry without interruption.

Daughters of the King

A new Board has been elected and will officially begin serving in September.

For the next two years, leadership will include Carolyn Backus, President; Mary Stout Hess, Vice President & Secretary; and Cheryl Beall, Treasurer.

We give thanks for their willingness to serve and to those who have served in past years, as well as, for the continued ministry of the Daughters of the King at St. Andrew’s.

The Daughters of the King meet every second Sunday of the month in the Pink Room. The DOK will not meet during the summer. The parish will be informed of when meetings resume.

Words & Wine Book Group

The Words and Wine Book Group meets on the first Monday of each month at 4:00 PM in the Pink Room of our Parish Hall (unless otherwise noted).

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others over literature, thoughtful discussion, and light refreshments.

All are welcome to join us for a lively and engaging time of fellowship!

Introducing St. Andrew's

New Small Group

St. Andrew’s is excited to launch a new small group for families with young children, led by Dicy Adams! While designed with families in mind, all are welcome to join.

Details:

  • Thursdays, 6:00pm - 7:30pm (schedule below)
  • For Kids: Age-appropriate, church-friendly viewing (like VeggieTales) during adult discussion time
  • For Adults: Engaging discussion using the Transforming Questions curriculum from Forward Movement

About the Curriculum:

The Transforming Questions small group is an 11-session series following the Church Year from Lent to Pentecost, exploring a central question each meeting:

  • First Week of Lent (Feb 26): Can We Question Our Faith?
  • Third Week of Lent (Mar 12): Who Is Jesus?
  • Fifth Week of Lent (Mar 26): Why Did Jesus Have to Die?
  • Eastertide (Apr 9): What Do We Have to Do?
  • Eastertide (Apr 23): How Should I Read the Bible?
  • Eastertide (May 7): Does God Answer Prayer?
  • Season of Pentecost (June 4): Why Do Bad Things Happen?
  • Season of Pentecost (July 30): Where Do We Go When We Die?
  • Season of Pentecost (Aug 6): Why Do I Need Church?
  • Season of Pentecost (Aug 13): Where Do We Go from Here?
  • Season of Pentecost (Aug 27): What Do I Have to Believe to Be an Episcopalian?

Additional Notes:

  • Two scheduled breaks for Spring Break and Summer Break
  • If all goes well, we plan to explore a new curriculum and continue growing the small group

This is a wonderful opportunity to dive deeper into faith, connect with others, and explore life’s big questions in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Children's Church

We are delighted to share that Children’s Church takes place every Sunday during the 10:00 a.m. service.

All children ages three years old (and potty-trained) through fifth grade are warmly invited to join.

Each Sunday, our two Children’s Church teachers will lead the children to the Children’s Chapel before the Ministry of the Word.

An usher will notify the teachers just before Communion begins, and the children will return to the service during Communion.

We look forward to welcoming our young disciples and sharing this special time of learning, prayer, worship, and community together!

2026 Flower Dedications

Parishioners are invited to sign up for flower dedications for 2026 by using the Flower Dedication 2026 booklet located on the Narthex’s center table or by emailing Alessandra Edge at office@standrews316.org.

Each dedication will include the statement, “The flowers at the altar are given to the Glory of God and…”, followed by your personal dedication, such as “in loving memory of” or “in thanksgiving for.”

The cost for each flower arrangement is $50 per Sunday.

Payments may be made by cash or check.

Please be sure to indicate Flower Guild and the date of your dedication in the memo or “for” field of your check.

We are pleased to share that more than one flower dedication is now permitted on any given Sunday, allowing multiple families to honor loved ones or give thanks together.

In addition, following a memorial service, the Sunday immediately following the service will also include the memorial flowers given in remembrance of those who have passed.

Please note that flower dedications are not observed during the following liturgical seasons:

  • Lent: From the First Sunday in Lent, February 22, through the Second Sunday of Easter, April 12, 2026
  • Advent and Christmastide: From the First Sunday of Advent, November 29, through the First Sunday after Christmas Day, December 27, 2026

Flower dedications are a meaningful way to honor loved ones, give thanks, and enhance our worship through the beauty of flowers.

Safeguarding Training

The 2026 Safeguarding God's Children and Safeguarding God's People zoom training schedule and registration form has a new link (button to link below).

Training sessions are posted as they are scheduled, and the current schedule is posted below.

Some things to note about trainings, requirements, etc:

  • Safeguarding God's Children should be renewed every three years, and is required by all clergy, staff, vestry, and staff/volunteers who serve in ministries with children or youth. Further details can be found here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/sgc/who-needs-sgc-training/
  • If someone has never taken the SGC training, or took it prior to 2020 (when our diocesan policies were updated) then they need to attend a 2-hour zoom training and complete an online module (approximately 45 minutes, on their own time) or attend a 3-hour in person training.
  • If someone has taken the SGC training in 2020 or more recently, then they would have been trained on the updated policies and so only need to complete the online module from Praesidium Academy: Abuse Prevention Refresher which can be found at the link below: https://www.praesidiumacademy.com/learn/course/abuse-prevention-refresher-eng/abuse-prevention-refresher/introduction?client=pan-cpg-9313f79
  • Nursery workers, preschool and kindergarten teachers do not need to take the full SGC training but have to complete an online module. Details are outlined here: https://safechurchatlanta.org/preschool/
  • Safeguarding God's People should be renewed every five years and is required by all clergy, staff, vestry, and staff/volunteers who serve in ministries with adults. They are required to complete a 2-hour zoom training, and if they are first-time trainees, an additional online module. Those renewing do not need to complete the module. In person trainings are also an option when offered and would not require any additional modules/zoom.
