Meeting called to order by President-Elect Lindsey Lenhart. Total attendance: 26, members; 22, other Kiwanis; 1-Bob Kemper, guests; 3-Sofia (intern at Lighthouse, brought by Yurley), speaker Kris Volpone, Heights Elementary Principal Doug Palow. 

Welcome back Dick Arndt!

50/50: Karen Hurst had the lucky ticket. Anyone can participate for the instant winnings but only club members can pull for the jackpot if their ticket is pulled. 

Sheriff: feel better Barb S., thanks to the speaker, for right arms, beer bread, happy, thanks Kris, speaker says thanks for our involvement and for Todd, new autism room. 
                                                  
                                                   Announcements/Reminders

We received a thank you card for the atlas' from Orangewood Elementary. Mrs. Payne's class said; "thank you, atlas is awesome, I like the atlas, cool atlas, your book was good, thanks a lot for the atlas."

We received a thank you letter from Children's Network from the blankets we recently made; 
"thanks so much, we will find little ones to keep warm, also when the child protection investigators have to remove kids from their homes they will have a comfort blanket right away." 

Background Screening; screens are valid for 2 years. You will receive an email notifying you of such and directions to be re-screened.

                                        Sensory Room #3

Our club funded half the start up money for the development of a multi-sensory environment designed for children with autism and other sensory challenges at this school. The other half was matched by member Todd Adams.  Adams.  


This room will be named in memory of our past-president Diane Connell.

Oasis Reading Room-  (Stewart Ross). Weekly reading/mentoring is at Orangewood Elementary on Wednesdays (except on designated school holidays). Times are 1:50pm-2:30pm (you have two different youth during this time). Sign up with Stewart 507-304-1624 or stewart.ross@mnsu.edu 
 
MS Support Group- (Bill Grant), meets 3rd Thursday of the month at St. Hilary Episcopal Church.

Builder's Club-( Barbara Hartman, Todd Adams, Ada Trapanese) Cypress Lake Middle School. Meets 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 4:00pm.  Builder's Club is collecting items for their annual "Puppy Love"  project, for the Gulf Coast Humane Society. 

K-Kids-( Kim Berghs) Littleton Elementary at 2:15pm on Wednesdays 1-2 times per month

                               Today's Program: The Salvation Army
Kris Volpone was our guest speaker today. She provided an overview of some of the services and programs this agency provides such as; Rapid Rehousing program, Crossroads (substance abuse program), evening meal program, shelter, corrections clients. She said in this area, Kiwanis brings in more funds from bell ringing than any other service club.She focused on a program not many know of, it's the We Care initiative. It provides specialty medical care to eligible uninsured residents. Medical care is provided by 300+ physicians and other healthcare professionals who provide their services voluntarily. There are set eligibility requirements as well as a variety of services such as a dental clinic. For more information on that program 239-334-3745. We plan on organizing a team and Lindsey has invited clubs in our division to all come together for this event. Please ask your friends and colleagues.

How To Register for March For Babies Event Online- Step By Step
  1. Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome etc)
  2. In the search bar type the link: https://www.marchforbabies.org/team/Division19Kiwanis
  3. Once on the home page- Click "JOIN THIS TEAM" purple box
  4. It will prompt you to enter your email address or sign up using Facebook or Google. Chose what best fits you.
  5. If you chose to sign up with an email address the next page will ask you to create an account by putting in your user name, a password etc. At the bottom click "CREATE ACCOUNT".
    1. You will also notice at the bottom right hand corner a purple box that says "Live Support ONLINE". You can use this if you need help.
    2. After creating an account- You will see "Event and team details".
      1. Verify the address showing is "SOUTHWEST FLORIDA Centennial Park, 200 West First Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901.
                                                              i.      If this is not the address that shows up click "Change location"                                                                                below the given address.
  1. On the right side you will see "Division 19 Kiwanis" as the team name and "Lindsey Lenhart" as the team captain.
  2. After you are done verifying the details click "CONTINUE" at the bottom of the page.
  3. You will be asked to "ENTER YOUR PERSONAL FUNDRAISING GOAL" - enter any amount and click "CONTINUE".
  4. In the next page you will have the opportunity to personally donate. If you don't want to do it then click "Not right now" in grey letters.
  5. After selecting your personal ties to the campaign, you will be able to see your account.
