Progress Continues on 362nd / Bell Extension
Quick progress is being made on the connection of 362nd Avenue and Bell Street, Sandy's most significant street project in years!

Site grading and compaction is now underway, and installation of some underground utilities has begun.

The project plan calls for graveling of the road base and installation of utilities to be completed by the end of 2022, to allow road paving to begin in spring 2023.
How Is the Area Zoned?
The land surrounding the new road is mostly C2 - General Commercial (shown in red); with some R2 - Medium Density Residential (shown in orange). Review the full zoning map for Sandy here.

Sandy Clean Waters Update
The City's work to repair and rehabilitate our wastewater collection pipes is showing positive results, and more progress is one the way!

Fixing pipes to reduce groundwater and rainwater inflow and infiltration (I&I) keeps flow levels manageable and helps keep the treatment plan from getting overwhelmed during significant storms.

Work is already complete on the most problematic collection basins (Basins 2 and 8), and design work is almost finished for Basins 6 and 7. Construction on this next phase is expected to begin by early fall.

This is just one component of Sandy Clean Waters, our comprehensive wastewater system upgrade and improvement project.

Sandy's Economic Development Strategic Plan
Sandy has gone through a lot of change recently, and we need to make sure our economic plans evolve with the times. In the last several years our town has seen rapid population growth, as well as shifts in the way our economy works and in what consumers are looking for.

Planning for our economic future now will help ensure we can keep creating new local job opportunities, develop the local tax base, and draw in more visitors to support our local retail and restaurant industries.

It's a big task, but we’ve called in some expert help: the City recently signed a contract with Community Attributes, Inc. to help us craft our city’s first Economic Development Strategic Plan. This plan will serve as a road map for Sandy’s economy for the next fifteen years, with a sustainable and diverse economic vision and an implementation plan to get us there.

The plan will be developed over the remainder of 2022 and will include lots of opportunities for input from local stakeholders, including Sandy residents and business owners. You can start sharing your input on Sandy Speaks today: tell us what kind of businesses you think Sandy is missing the most!

Stay tuned to Sandy Speaks for more updates on this exciting project!
