CPWR RELEASES SAFETY CLIMATE TOOL FOR SMALL CONTRACTORS
The CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training has developed a new tool for small contractors that can help them better assess and improve their jobsite safety climate .

Rather than looking to stats of what has already occurred (i.e., numbers and types of workplace injuries and illnesses), this tool focuses on prevention in the form of eight leading indicators that, when planned and implemented properly, can eliminate or reduce jobsite hazards.

The Safety Climate Assessment Tool for Small Contractors (S-CAT sc ) is free of charge and can be downloaded or completed online .
IS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PART OF YOUR COMPANY CULTURE?
Is leadership development – or continuous learning in general – a part of your company's culture? If not, why not?

Studies repeatedly show that a company who invests in its employees through benefits such as education and training come out ahead in the end. How?

Employees who do well in their jobs and are motivated to help their employer succeed leads to higher retention and lower turnover rates, thus reducing overall costs. When you are vested in them, they become vested in you and that makes them feel a part of something – which is one key indicator of employee satisfaction.

Leadership development heads a list of the top 10 training topics for 2018, along with time management/productivity, cultural diversity, emotional intelligence (EQ), and harassment prevention. Click here to see the SAIA's training and education offerings.

SLEEPY AT WORK? YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
The National Safety Council has found that 69 percent of employees report being tired at work, which results in decreased productivity and increased safety incidents.

High-risk industries – construction, manufacturing, transportation, and utilities – were the focus of the NSC's report because of their safety-critical positions and high consequence of injury, illness, or death from safety-related accidents.
