Small construction establishments with fewer than 20 employees incur higher rates of workplace fatalities than their larger counterparts, according to the CPWR's new third-quarter data report.
While fatality rates between 2008 and 2016 decreased about 30% for establishments with more than 20 employees, the rate rose 57% for small construction employers.
More alarmingly, approximately two-thirds (67.2%) of all worker fatalities in 2016 occurred in smaller establishments.
