We are so proud of you! We would like to invite you and your guest(s) to our upcoming Convocation Social 2025 event at the School of Social Work! 


Date: Tuesday, June 3rd at 12:30 pm (following the UWindsor Convocation ceremony for Social Work).


Our seated ceremony will start at 1pm where we will be honouring students and our SSW Award Recipients!

 

Where: The School of Social Work, Foyer of Windsor Hall , 167 Ferry Street 


Who: All graduates are invited with their guests! 


We will be serving light refreshments. Faculty and staff will be in attendance to say a few words and celebrate your achievements!

Alumni News

Jennifer Cline, School of Social Work Alumna, & 2025 O.A.S.W. Local Distinguished Social Worker Award Recipient


Jennifer Cline is a Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in community development, advocacy, and program leadership. A graduate of the University of Windsor School of Social Work program, she currently serves as the Senior Manager of Community Development and Engagement at Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation. In this capacity, Jennifer leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to mobilizing community support in Windsor's most vulnerable neighborhoods through strategic collaborations and partnerships.


Her extensive expertise spans mental health, child welfare, elder abuse, substance misuse, housing, immigration, and social benefits. Throughout her career, Jennifer has made significant contributions in roles such as Social Worker at Legal Assistance of Windsor, Family Service Worker at Windsor Essex Children’s Aid Society, and Social Work Program Coordinator at Welcome Centre Shelter for Women. She remains committed to equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization through her systemic advocacy and creating access for marginalized populations.


A firm believer in the importance of mentorship, Jennifer is dedicated to providing leadership and guidance to social work students and emerging professionals. She actively mentors social work students from the University of Windsor and St. Clair College and supports the development of new social workers in the community, helping them navigate complex cases and enhance their skills in delivering effective services.


 Jennifer is deeply committed to driving social change through innovation, advocacy, and the cultivation of strong community partnerships. Her ability to approach the work through a lens of both professional and lived experience allows her to develop and implement effective programs and has consistently enhanced service delivery and empowered communities. In recognition of her contributions, Jennifer was honored with a Platinum Jubilee Award for community service. As a passionate champion for equity, access to justice, and community-driven solutions, she continues to make a significant impact in the communities she serves.

Dr. Riham Al-Saadi


Congratulations to Dr. Al-Saadi! Her article was recently published! It's entitled, "A Journey Into a Researcher’s Positionality on Acculturation: Intersectional Identity and Immigration Milestones" and it's published in the International Journal of Qualitative Methods.

OASW Windsor and Area Local Engagement Network


The OASW Windsor and Area Local Engagement Network recently held their Meet a Social Worker Event in the School of Social Work


The event was well attended and students got the chance to speak with 'seasoned' Social Workers from various avenues of practice and learn about the diverse opportunities that the field of social work offers.


Thank you to the OASW and the Social Workers who attended this event. This was very valuable to our students!

National Social Work Month

In March, it is Social Work Week in Ontario (March 3rd to 9th) and National Social Work Month for Canada.  In honour of this month, the Leddy Library has put together a display in the library and an online curated collection of social work books. This collection covers a wide range of topics for students, educators and practitioners, see: Foundations of Social Work: Selected Readings   Many thanks to Dr. Riham Al-Saadi and to the Ontario Association of Social Workers and the Social Work Student Association at the University of Windsor for their very generous donation of promotional materials for the library display.

 

Freedom to Read Week

Don & Gail Rodzik Law Library
